They say “third time’s a charm.” Luckily for La Gloria Cubana, Artesanos de Obelisco, the third installment in the Artesanos collection, is no exception.
This cigar embodies everything a memorable smoke requires: Quality, innovation, and perhaps the most underestimated ingredient of them all- inspiration.
Researching the Artesanos de Obelisco, I literally got chills. I cherish the tradition of this culture and because I’m involved in the business side as much as the pleasure, I am often times disappointed in how a company’s quest for a dollar can sometimes ruin the authenticity of a new blend. But La Gloria Cubana Artesanos Obelisco is a true tribute cigar and did not disappoint.
The first thing you’ll notice about this cigar is its obvious unique shape. It’s meant to resemble the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration. This statue, designed by architect Henry Bona Gazon, stands proud, high atop the center of Santiago in the Dominican Republic. It’s there for all the people of the country to commemorate 100 years of independence. The monument is one of the most popular destinations in the Dominican Republic, a place where its citizens can come for fellowship and peace.
It’s easy to see how this place is an inspiration. As I touched on before, I so value the culture of the cigar world. The stories, the people, and the experiences are what drew me in. These are the same things that draw the people of the Dominican to the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration and La Gloria Cubana to create this cigar. The symmetry between these two things is not lost on me.
With a concept as strong as the Artesanos de Obelisco, you might not expect much else. But La Gloria Cubana is not just for after aesthetics. The blending of the 4 different types of tobacco is thoughtfully manifested to produce a unique, awe-inspiring flavor. The construction is broken down to an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and Dominican and Double Nicaraguan Ligero fillers. The La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco is of course manufactured at the El Credito Cigar Factory, which is located in, the lady of the hour, the Dominican Republic.
This cigar expected to hit stores late fall and will be available at all five Emerson’s Cigars locations in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and online at www.EmersonsCigars.com.
