On Thursday, General Cigar made a donation for $20,000 on behalf of the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers Association to Ducks Unlimited to support their habitat restoration efforts along the the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
In a press release, Debo Mukherjee, vice president of marketing for General Cigar, noted that “the city of New Orleans and the Gulf region have been gracious hosts to the IPCPR, and we felt it was important to assist the region in its time of need. We chose to represent the premium cigar category by contributing to Ducks Unlimited because we value their long-term commitment to helping restore coastal marshes in the Gulf Coast, and because we are particularly pleased with their response to the oil spill.”
“The IPCPR and General Cigar’s generous donation will help us to continue our habitat restoration efforts in Gulf Coast marshes,” Philip Milburn, director of marketing and corporate relations at DU, said. “This is an endeavor that we have been committed to for more than 20 years. General Cigar’s support will go a long way in helping to fund programs critical to the restoration, enhancement and protection of the Gulf Coast’s remaining coastal wetlands.”
A formal check presentation will occur on Tuesday, August 10th during the IPCPR trade show.
