This is but one of four locations owned and operated by Kim and Jim. This store is located on Highway 52 in Goose Creek. They've been in business for almost twenty years beginning in the West Ashley area of Charleston; the first being located in West Ashley.
This destination is good for an afternoon smoke, cigar talk, and a non-alcoholic beverage. The staff provide insight and will gladly attempt to match your tastes with an appropriate cigar. The staff is just as willing to allow the customer to find their 'own'.
Brands that can be found range from CAO, Onyx, Kristoff, Drew Estates, Padron, and many other well-known premium brands. Notably absent is any offering from Alec Bradley. It was explained that in early 1997 Alan Rubin chose not to offer his brand to retailers within a certain radius of another. As all four Kingston Cigar Shops are within the radius of Towne Centre Tobacco and Wine in Mount Pleasant they are not authorized to carry Alec Bradley cigars.
In addition to the cigar selection, a very modest selection of cigar and pipe accessories can be found here at a premium. Regarding the accessories, the staff is well acquainted and knowledgable in this area as well.
The walk-in humidor is maintained at an agreeable 68-70 degrees F, and a relative humidity (RH) of 68-70%.
Leather wing-back chairs placed in a conversation semi-circle provide ample space for a small group to gather for cigar-talk. While not necessarily a place for large gatherings; if 'intimate' and 'cozy' fit the bill for you this a good place to be. Regarding the 'mother' factor referenced in a previous article: not necessarily.
In comparison to other more 'well-appointed' cigar shops in the Charleston area, this particular shop rates 3.5 of 5 stars.
