Just in time for Independence Day, the California Department of Transportation has painted over a mural of the American flag. It has been proudly displayed on a retaining wall along highway 680 in California – just outside of Silicon Valley, and was originally painted in response to the 9/11 terror attacks – yet it was just painted over with grey paint on Wednesday, according to a www.ktvu.com article on Thursday.
Allyn Amsk of the California Department of Transportation stated on Thursday that, "It was put on the list for graffiti removal and yesterday (Wednesday) morning they painted over it with grey concrete paint." When asked why they waited so long, he said that the California Department of Transportation was unaware that it was there. For nearly a decade? Is he for real? Highway 680 is only one of the busiest California highways and the painting was only a 35 foot mural!
The regular commuters along the highway said that they are upset that it has been painted over, and the artists plan to discuss repainting the flag in time for the tenth anniversary of 9/11 with the California Department of Transportation.
Interesting how most of America, and even many of our elected officials were crying, “God bless America” when the towers were originally decimated, and now, we have a government department who refers to the flag as graffiti

Mr. Allyn Amsk should be removed from his job for focusing his attention on such unpatriotic endeavors. There must be (uneducated guess) thousands of pieces of gang related graffiti on state property that should have been removed first. For some reason an artists rendering of our American flag that represents our great nation was labeled graffiti and targeted for termination. Has our governor and his staff (our state workers) gone mad?
Allyn Amsk should face a choice of either being jailed for not less than 1 year or being deported to another country. This makes me extremely angry! I want to see him pay for this unrepentant, unpatriotic decision! This is no worse than burning our beloved flag in public!
So is it Mr. Amsk position that the American Flag flying at the State Capital and other state offices should now be removed, for no other reason than they are on state property, or because he perceives our Flag as graffiti. I suppose no one in his family has risked their lives in its defense. The contempt I hold for this little man is only surpassed by his hate of our nation.
Cal Trans actually made the concrete paint used to cover the american flag out of aborted fetus blood. When asked why, a Cal Trans official named Muhammad replied by reading a list of things that President Obama hates: unborn babies, capitalism, Jesus, white people, freedom, and anything that rhymes with Sarah Palin. He went on to say that Cal Trans was ordered to grind up as many of these things as possible when making paint.
I proudly display our flag here in Alaska. I live along a river in a town that is proud of it's Military. I have had our troops stand and salute our flag when they go by on the river. They will have to pry this out of my dead hands if they can to take it away. Happy 4th America to those that cherish this holiday.
Mr. Allyn Amsk is what's wrong with California.
