Atheist to be "De-Baptized" With Hair Dryer

According to the late night news program, Nightline that aired Friday, July 16th, American atheists are lining up to be “de-baptized” with a hair dryer.

Atheist Edwin Kagin has been blasting his non-believing friends with a hair dryer to “dry up the holy water” that was sprinkled on their heads in the past. The hair dryer used includes a label that reads “Reason and Truth” on it.

While wearing a monk’s robe, Kagin invited those wanting to be “de-baptized” by saying "come forward now and receive the spirit of hot air that taketh away the stigma and taketh away the remnants of the stain of baptismal water."

Kagin says that he was baptized as a baby and don’t remember any of it, therefore they were forcing him to be a Catholic. His mother has told him that he screamed when he was baptized as a baby to which he says means that he must have known even then that he did not want to be baptized. He believes that he was born an atheist.

The belief by Kagin is that it is wrong for a parent to baptize their child before they are able to make their own decisions. He also says that some religious education is “child abuse”.

He laughed on the TV Show, saying the “one wonders where they went wrong” because his own son is a fundamentalist Christian minister after experiencing “a revelation in Jesus Christ”.

This is so funny, I mean if they don't believe in God in the first place why are they worried about the fact that they where baptized into something thats not real (to them)??????
I think perhaps they are not truly convinced in what they believe.
I also think someone has to much time on their hands and they need to volunteer at a homeless shelter or animal shelter....................................................and do something constructive with their day!!!
    Just a thought Folks!!

    Lilly,

Baptism involves entering a religion, not a god. Religion is real. Very real. It means something, not just to those who want it to happen, but also to those of us who didn't have the ability to stop it. Now we do.

    Just a fact, folks!!
