Why I believe God is the author of life

College vs. faith – my journey

“When I was in college in the early sixties the professors seemed to be doing their best to prove to me that there was no God and that I was stupid if I believed in Him.”  Some of my professors apparently thought that because they could read a book and shake a test tube that they had become smarter than God; that they didn't need Him anymore.

The process of DNA/RNA protein synthesis was the key that unlocked the door to my absolute faith that God is the source of life.

If you watch the attached video that describes the protein-building process that is going on within almost every cell in your body right this moment, with an unjaundiced eye, you will see many things happening that you cannot write off to chance or randomness.

When one notable atheist and some of Darwin’s staunchest defenders see this, they say that the first cells capable of protein synthesis must have been delivered to earth from some source outside of our planet. They want you to think that the first DNA was dropped off by Martians or a comet several thousands or millions of years ago?

If that's the case, where did that DNA come from?

Simplified definitions of some of the terms used in this video:

  • TRAITS: Are features of an organism's physical appearance, for example, a person's eye-color, height or weight.
  • DNA: Traits are carried (as little packets) in DNA, as instructions for constructing and operating an organism.
  • GENETIC CODE or GENE: Segments of DNA
  • AMINO ACID: The building blocks of proteins.
  • PROTEIN: Is a linear chain of amino acids.
  • RNA: A template that is used to produce an exact duplicate copy of DNA.
  • TRANSCRIPTION: Is the synthesis of RNA under the direction of DNA.
  • RIBOSOME: Is the intracellular vehicle that is used in the “transfer of genetic code from nucleic acid into protein.”
  • TRANSFER MOLECULE: Is a small RNA molecule that transfers a specific amino acid to a growing chain in protein synthesis.
  • HEMOGLOBIN: Is the iron-containing oxygen-transporting protein contained in red blood cells.
