If all he wants for Christmas is you, then why not wrap yourself up tight in this one-of-a-kind dress made entirely of Christmas gift-wrap? That's right, there is only one like it the world, hand made by Britt Savage, a singer-song writer and fellow believer from Nashville, TN.
This is the second paper dress ever made by Britt, the first one was the "IRS Dress" made from "the beautifully pink Child and Dependent Care 1040A forms plus some paler pink Individual tax forms." It became quite a sensation, earning Ms. Savage a unique place in an upcoming edition of Ripley's Believe It or Not.
This new "Christmas Dress" is a two piece design, the top made from woven wrapping paper and the skirt made from shredded ribbon. The bra part is made from tape. Britt warns the buyer that the dress is somewhat fragile since it was put together with tape, staples, and glue. Although comfort is in the bodice of the wearer, Britt agreed to wear her creation onstage in Nashville. Why?
Because the "Gift wrap dress" is part of a special auction. 100% of the final sale price will help support Heifer International, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to end hunger, poverty, and care for the earth. Heifer provides livestock and training to the less fortunate in 57 countries including the U.S..
The "Wrapping paper dress" was already sold once; however, when Britt went to invoice the buyer the shipping amount kept coming up wrong.
"I wrote to apologize, said I'd figure out what was going wrong and also asked if he could possibly be Kenny Riccio, a guy I knew over 25 years ago in NJ. He wrote and said, yes, he was THAT Ken Riccio and that he and his wife wanted to donate $100 (that's why the shipping was changed) and they also wanted me to KEEP the dress and put it back on ebay to raise more money for charity!!! Just amazing."
Britt is a singer and she told me "When I was around 20, I sang in a NJ cover band called The Nines and Kenny Riccio was a good friend of the drummer, Mickey. We'd only met a few times ... It was a complete shock to find out that he was the K. Riccio who bid on my dress."
So because of his generosity, and the many hours of hard work by Britt Savage, you will have a second chance to own this pretty little red & gold outfit. (click here) Although you may not get the dress in time for this Christmas, that could be a blessing. You see, the dress is a size 6, so this gives you another holiday season (actually a whole year) to eat with glee before slimming down to size.
