Joanna Krupa Nude Cross Angel Photo for PETA
PETA's new "Be an Angel for Animals" campaign is off to a controversial start with The Catholic League clearly upset that Joanna Krupa appears semi-nude while holding a rosary in one advertisement, and completely nude with a strategically placed cross in another. Adorned with feathery angel wings and a glowing halo in both photos, she floats above a sea of happy dogs within a church cathedral for the "cross" photo, and holds her canine companion Rugby in the "rosary" shoot .
The sexually tantalizing ads are beautiful yet bold - the message clearly displayed: "ALWAYS ADOPT. NEVER BUY."
In case you have not heard of Ms. Krupa, she is a 30 yr old Polish model who has appeared nude in other PETA ads which proclaim "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur", and has been featured in magazines such as Maxim, Frederick's of Hollywood, and Playboy. She recently reached greater notariety as one of the last contestants eliminated in this season's hit TV show Dancing with the Stars.
In a December 1st news release, The Catholic League called PETA "animal killers" and "a fraud" that "exploits Christian symbols." They also state: "despite a budget of $32 million, PETA does not operate an adoption shelter."
In response, Joanna Krupa released a statement saying "It's understandable that the Catholic League is wary of another sex scandal, but the sex we're talking about pertains to dogs and cats." (Keep in mind that she is a model and not a writer so she is most likely not implying any form of beastiality.)
She goes on to say: "As a practicing Catholic, I am shocked that the Catholic League is speaking out against PETA ads, which I am very proud of. I'm doing what the Catholic Church should be doing, working to stop senseless suffering of animals, the most defenseless of god's creation. I am a voice for innocent animals who are being neglected and dumped by the millions at shelters. In my heart I know that Jesus would never condone the suffering that results when dogs and cats are allowed to breed."
The fine print on both photos reads: "Save a life by adopting from an animal shelter, and always give your animal companions the love and care that they deserve."
While The Good Book does extol the virtues of love and care, it also counsels believers toward holiness and righteousness, with modesty, away from sexual immorality or any behavior which would cause someone else to stumble in their Christian walk.
Audrina Patridge, an actress on the television show The Hills, also appears in similar PETA ads as an angel with wings, yet she manages to do so without going naked or topless, or invoking additional Christian or Catholic imagery. Perhaps she is not quite as devout as Joanna, yet every bit as sincere in rescuing animals scheduled for destruction. In Audrina's PETA ad, she is seen holding her rescued dog Speedy Gonzalez.
So more tasteful, less potentially-offensive ads can be done, but perhaps that is what PETA was hoping for in order to bring added attention to their well-intentioned albeit slightly misguided attempt at bringing more animal-lovers into their fold. They even released Joanna's statement about God with a little "g."

Practicing Catholics only expose themselves for their spouses and their doctors. If she can't see the anti-Christian message here, she's dumber than I gave her credit for.
If Krupa is a practicing Catholic then I am the Queen of England. She obviously doesn't know a thing about Catholicism or about the work of Saint Francis. Do a google search for "peta kills animals" and see all the articles that pop up. If anyone wants to donate to an organization that really is concerned about the welfare of animals and not just shameless self promotions do a search for the Morris Animal Foundation. They are the ones deserving of money. If Krupa and Patridge want to do something about animal welfare, (and not promote themselves) contact the Morris Foundation. You won't even have to take your clothes off. By the way, has Ingrid Newkirk ever released annual reports to show where all their money goes? If not, why not?
Since you claim to be a "practicing Catholic, tell us Joanna Krupa, do you believe in the murder of innocent babies via abortion? How about you Audina Patridge? And you, Ingrid Newkirk?
