Iraqi father who drove over Westernized daughter has been returned to Arizona

Praise God when criminals, especially the dangerous ones, are both caught and punished.  At this point, the Iraqi father who ran over his daughter last week with a Jeep Grand Cherokee has been caught, and returned to Arizona.  But what will his punishment be?  What is an appropriate punishment for using your vehicle like a deadly weapon?

Faleh Hassan Almaleki, a 48 year old Iraqi immigrant from Glendale, Arizona is now in jail in nearby Peoria, AZ - the city where the attempted murder took place.  He was, for some reason, only booked on two charges of aggravated assault.  One for running over his daughter Noor and the other for hitting her roommate Amal Khalaf last Tuesday, Oct. 20th at the same time with the same vehicle in the same parking lot.  Noor Almaleki is still hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and unresponsive.  Amal was able to talk to police after the incident, providing information about their ordeal.

Mr. Almaleki quickly fled the scene of the crime.  He could have easily driven to Texas, or anywhere.  So where did he go?  Investigators say he crossed over into Mexico, then hopped a plane to London.  British authorities detained him for entering the country illegally.  U.S. officials were notified and able to escort him back to the United States.  Once they landed in Atlanta, authorities were able to arrest the hit-and-run father.

Mr. Almaleki obviously knew he was guilty of a crime or he would not have fled the country like that.  Interviews with family and friends revealed the father's anger toward his daughter.  Why was he so angry?  Because Noor had left an unhappy marriage in Iraq so she could come back to America.  She moved in with Amal Khalaf and her husband, whose son is Noor's boyfriend.  According to Noor's brother, their father was furious about this.  In Iraq, this kind of disgrace is punishable by death.

It is interesting how Mr. Almaleki fled to Mexico rather than hide in Arizona or another state.  Our United States border agents didn't catch him.  Mexican officials didn't catch him.  The ones in England did. Perhaps we should do more to monitor who is coming in and out of our country.  There's no telling how many of them are criminals.

It is also interesting how sexual immorality is a sign of becoming too Westernized.  It didn't use to be that way, but it is now.  Maybe our country has become too comfortable with sin.  We do whatever makes us happy, not what makes us holy.  Although honor killings seem atrocious in our eyes, in the eyes of others, adultery and disgracing one's family is equivalent to the unpardonable sin.  Nevertheless, we must all learn to abide by the law, and if necessary, work to change the law if we are unhappy with it.  Maybe that is why Sharia law will one day come to the U.S., as it has to other parts of the world.  In the meantime, Faleh Hussan Almaleki awaits his day in court.

What the hell is wrong with you? It sounds very much like you are saying the girl had it coming.

And melissa - whose Sharia dreams are you talking about? Are you boldly and defiantly stating that the USA will never be under Sharia law?

There is literally no chance of that happening, so it's silly to even imagine. It's like saying "The moon will NEVER fit in my pants pocket. NEVER!!!"

to Victor: as you quoted me as saying "in the eyes of others", definitely not in my own.
to Melissa and Victor: my statment on Sharia may be bold, but if you research how immigrants from Muslim nations are changing the world, you will notice expectations and demands for laws to change so that they can continue to practice their traditions and customs. Never say never. After 9/11 who would have expected the next President of the United States to have 3 Muslim names and receive the Nobel Peace Prize in record time.

My daughter told me of this horrible story today. I "googled" it to find out more. I was behind on the story because of suffering from the flu, not because I am not up on current events. Your writing was the first on the list. I was fine with reading it until your personal opinion. I am a Christian, I am conservative, but why would you choose a story like this to try and make a stand on border control and religious opinion? You are what gives us as Christians a bad name. What this man did has NOTHING to do with the religious morality of this country or our lack of border control. It has nothing to do with our president it has EVERYTHING to do with a radical religion. Why make Christianity look just as radical with your poor accusations and summations? You take away from everything we as conservatives and Christians are trying to do undue in this country by using this story as a "soap box" or "platform".

This weirdo is just plain psychologically sick, like many Middle Easterners. To kill your own offspring, that you have loved and nurtured, because they don't abide by what you want, is unbelievable. He has killed his grandchildren, great grandchildren and continuing family, in this unforgiveable act of madness, evil and selfishness. His real punishment will come in the next world, and I wouldn't like to be in his shoes, then.

In every case, regardless of national, ethnic, religious origin - each life lost is one too many. We can do more by joining hands and crusading / doing jihad against these social ills.
