3x3 Interviews: Betsy St. Amant

Welcome author Betsy St. Amant.

What’s the best piece of advice you've received about your writing/publishing career?

Never give up! It's so true. If you turn in a submission, you risk rejection, but if you never try, you'll fail every time. I didn't give up, and now am multi-published/contracted with Steeple Hill Love Inspired.

What’s the worst piece of advice you've received about your writing/publishing career?

Sometimes, authors in their desire to help, can be pushy about HOW to do things. The worst advice I've received was being told to do things a specific way that threw off my personal balance in my life. There are definitely rules to follow for success and rules on craft that publishers look for, but in regards to how you actually go about writing - whether you're a plotter or a "seat of the pant-ser", whether you write at night, day, for hours at a time, in ten minute snatches, etc...that comes down to the individual writer, and sometimes as new authors, we can feel pressure to live up to someone else's schedule or daily word count. Do what works for YOU!

How has your writing journey changed your Christian walk?

I believe my writing journey has led me closer to Christ as I regularly experience new issues in trust, faith, and answered prayer. As a person, my writing journey has created more layers inside me, and He is using those layers to shape and mold me. Jesus is holding my hand through this journey and it's certainly been an adventure. I look forward to more crazy twists and turns beside my Lord! =)
