I am white and I can't help it. I was born this way. I know lots of black folk who were born the way they are. They can't help it either.
I have experienced racism (lived in Asia for nearly 20 years). I get it. Still, often I find that it's blacks who won't give the whites a chance instead of the other way around. What's up with that?

Yes, I lived in Japan 5 years. I get it too. But I never told people in Japan they didn't get it like Black people here do.
you're right....some black people won't give whites a chance....you ask "what's up with that?" It's because they have been so very guarded their entire lives....they've seen their brothers, cousins and fathers killed for no reason...they live in poverty only because they were born in the black condition....it's hard to get over 400 years of oppression, have you tried it?
Lived in Hawaii for 6 years...it's Asia for all intents & puposes, & I don't recommend it. White/Ha'ole? You're hated...plain & simple.

I don't believe that being black, or any other color, is any more of a "condition" than pregnancy or high blood pressure. That's my point..we're all just here, and if you don't like where you're at, don't blame...GO! I'm kinda tired of it, and I know my tax dollars are...

Ignorance is bliss and that's where many white people like to live. Frankly, racism is about wealth, it's about who has it and will do anything to keep it all. I'll bet you're not one of those. I wonder where do those white people live.

Sure you do. You're supposed to be self supporting and pay your property taxes. No medal for that. I hope that your peanut butter was the natural kind. Its much better for you. It doesn't kill the brain cells like the fatty one does. I suspect you were eating Jiffy.
Also, don't be ashamed for what your ancestors did. It's counterproductive. More productive is to know that you have benefited from 400 years of free labor. Perhaps since you're not eating peanut butter anymore, you could volunteer and give back to your community. Read a history book Susan and not one about Black History, American History, it's all the same.
Oh, and BTW I grew up "poor", so don't speak to what you don't know. I made an onjective observation....you loosed an arrow. Trust me, I can hit back.

Well, it did. And so did slavery in this country continuing with Jim Crow laws. Now, I will not belabor the point. Because if you don't understand one performing labor without the benefit of compensation of any kind, either you didn't make it past the 8th grade to study American History or you are just ignorant.

Again, there is no "free labor" for people of Halocaust or Slavery. It was SUCH a cost, and was never free, to those that had to endure. that's all I can say...I wasn't there, but I think that if I was, some white man would have shot me for speaking out, and I'm a white girl

Ignoring the irrelevant back and forth, its evident that the police were off base.
Whether on not Gates was polite or not, he did show the officer his ID in his house. That is not disputed. He first showed his Harvard ID indicating he was a professor there. Crowledy apparently felt that wasn't adequate and wanted to see his drivers license. That apparently set Gates off..IN HIS OWN HOUSE.. After showing this drivers license he was pursuing Crowley to get his badge number. When he got the porch, he was no longer protected (you can't be disorderly in your own house) and was arrested there.
No matter how you want to slice it, the police had no valid reason for arresting him other than being angry at his behavior. They KNEW he was legally in his own home.
That Gates may have been incensed at what he felt was racially motivated is understandable. That the police officer was offended at being accused is understandable. But the action of arrest wasn't warranted.
I don't have a hard luck tax story...I just work, & pay taxes like everyone else

Honestly, why are white people complait too much about they are paying too much tax and black people didn't work at muck as them. When the time white people taking black people as a slavery and make them work hard and not paying them at all didn't they think about that for more than a hundreds year. I don't think so. Look people, if you are not white every thing you do is not right okay. If you are young black or asian with a car or any expensive thing on you. White cop think you are what you know already. If you are a white kid with nice ride or expensive thing on you then youre parents must be a doctor, lawyer, or someone rich. If you put a white man and black or asian out there to committed the same crime. Guess what, the white man get half the less penalty and with the help too. If you are black or asian then you must serve a full maximum or they created more stuff so you can do even more. I am right. Think about it. Look at how punk white cop work.

Slavery is something that happened, shouldn't have happened, and is a definite nasty stain on this country's history. But, for all you folks out there still blaming slavery...it's been over for quite awhile, and there is no one alive today, in this country, who has been enslaved. Time to stop using it as an excuse for "whatever". It should never be forgotten, or diminished, but it is no longer a viable excuse/reason for anything.
