On Starbuck's 40th anniversary, the Seattle-based company announced that it was changing logos, not only dropping "Coffee" from the logo, but even their name.
The question is: with the public embrace this new logo like they do Apple's nameless colorful icon, or cringe in horror as Gap customers did?
The siren, which has been part of the logo for years, remains along with the familiar green color. Dropping the word "coffee" indicates that the company is expanding its product-line beyond their traditional caffeinated beverages.
Addressing the new logo, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said, "We've allowed (the siren) to come out of the circle in a way that I think gives us the freedom and flexibility to think beyond coffee."
In our experience things change and often we do not embrace change, it makes us uncomfortable. Hebrews 13:8 says "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Think on that as you sip on your next cuppa joe.
