Here's another absolute guaranteed tip for running faster.
The non-secret - run faster.
Well, duh?! you might say. But, in short, if you want to run faster, well, run faster. It's not really more complicated than that.
I KNOW that folk will do their daily runs at a pace they are comfortable with. And, if you or I run the same pace every day, we'll learn to run that pace pretty well and maybe for longer and longer distances.
A nugget I came across in my many years of reading about running, triathlon training and ultrarunning -
"About 40% of the runner's training should be out of the comfort zone."
That's nearly half the time, a runner should feel uncomfortable = heart beating fast enough you can feel it, gasping for breath, aching muscles.
If you want to run faster, run faster. No rocket science here. Which, IMHO, is the beauty of running. All you need is shoes and clothes enough to keep you modest.
Christians, those folk living the Christian life for the long haul also need to realize that if they want to grow in their Christian walk/run, they, too will be out of their comfort zone nearly half the time.
Christians do not need to wait till trials come for growth, they can pursue activities that will help them grow, too. Think loving others until it hurts our heart, praying till we run out of words and exercising our faith muscles till it hurts to believe any longer.
Do you know someone who is particularly difficult to love? Chance!
How much time do you spend in dedicated prayer? Spend more!
Hard times do not mean we give up or that God has changed His mind, it means we stand firmer, push harder, trust more.
