101 evidences for a young age of the earth and the universe by Don Batten, PhD

This list ought to keep the young earth creation bashers busy for awhile.

Kudos to Don Batten, PhD for putting together such a list - 101 evidences for a young age of the earth and the universe.

Dr. Batten got his Ph.D. from the University of Sydney. He worked for 20 years as a research horticulturalist with the NSW Department of Agriculture.

Here are  five, one from each category...for the rest go here.

Biological evidence -

DNA in “ancient” fossils. DNA extracted from bacteria that are supposed to be 425 million years old brings into question that age, because DNA could not last more than thousands of years.

Geological evidence

Experiments show that with conditions mimicking natural forces, oil forms quickly; it does not need millions of years, consistent with an age of thousands of years.

Evidence from radiometric dating

Carbon-14 in coal suggests ages of thousands of years and clearly contradict ages of millions of years.

Astronomical evidence

Evidence of recent volcanic activity on Earth’s moon is inconsistent with its supposed vast age because it should have long since cooled if it were billions of years old. See: Transient lunar phenomena: a permanent problem for evolutionary models of Moon formation and Walker, T., and Catchpoole, D., Lunar volcanoes rock long-age timeframe, Creation 31(3):18, 2009.

Evidence supported by human history

Human population growth. Less than 0.5% p.a. growth from six people 4,500 years ago would produce today’s population. Where are all the people? if we have been here much longer?

Surely no individual who applies Reason, Science, Logic and Common Sense could possibly seriously maintain Creationist Mythology as anything other than pure Fantasy...

Wow, and I guess just because you say so, TWJ, I should follow you blindly.

hat's clearly what you do dude . . . follow blindly that is. @ writer - "Evidence of recent volcanic activity on Earth’s moon is inconsistent with its supposed vast age because it should have long since cooled if it were billions of years old" Really, why the hell is our own earth still full of magma then? The moon was formed after the earth! you call yourself a writer cause you can find anything you want on the net then copy and paste. NONE OF THESE HYPOTHESIES HAVE BEEN TESTED AND SURE AS HELL ARE NOT GIVEN THEROY CREDENTIONALS, SO DON'T POST LIES. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT SCIENTIST'S IF THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THE METHOD WHICH THEY CLEARLY ARE NOT! LOTS OF FOLKS HAVE PHD'S IT DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE AUTHORITIES.

    For those wondering reading this,

here is a return to reality,
simply google the phrase "coal and diamonds are young"
and you will very quickly be able to find strong rigorous rebuttals to just one of the many false claims made here. I'd give you a direct link but apparently you can't put links in comments.

When you are looking to prove the answer you believe you know beforehand, you have stopped using the scientific method no matter what you try to make it look like you are doing.

I have a PhD too (degrees in chemistry, physics and biology actually). As someone told me long ago in grad school, a PhD just means you are willing to persist in the face of a challenge, it doesn't mean you actually know what you are talking about or that you are correct.

    "Evidence supported by human history"

This is possibly the dumbest and most dishonest line of evidence ever.

Give one justifiable reason that the growth rate of the human population has been 1 constant figure for any significant period of time?

The hilarious thing about this 'proof'? It contradicts the bible.

You can't reconcile the populations given in the bible with this childish arithmetic.

Ya know, every time I read one of these stupid things, I always get frustrated at the utter stupidity. Here's a bit of contradictory evidence for one of your "facts".

On the moon, THERE IS NO OXYGEN. Oxygen is what speeds up the cooling process of hot magma on Earth. With the moon having a volcano explode, the magma will take a very long time to cool.

Oh and you're explanation for how life and the universe came to be is so retarded, it makes my head hurt.
Biblethumper: "No, the big bang couldn't have happened because everything has to have a beginning! Nothing can't explode from nothing!"
Me: "Then what's your theory to how everything came to be?"
Biblethumper: "I KNOW it was God! He created everything!"
Me: "How did God come to be, then?"
    Biblethumper: "He's ALWAYS been there!"
Me: "But...Everything has to have a beginning, as you said. How could our theory be wrong, yet yours be right when we at least have a partial explanation?"
Biblethumper: "-jumps around the question, accuses me of stupid crap, and never answers the question"

Yeah. You people never answer any good questions; you just jump around them, or ignore them completely because you don't want to realize your beliefs are stupid and medieval.

Here's a question I hope some bible thumpers/creationists can answer: If the Earth is only 6,000 years old, human evolution doesn't exist and Adam and Ever are real, where did black people come from??
