On February 26, Marie Osmond's son, Michael Blosil, committed suicide. According to entertainmentandshowbiz.com, the Blosil family plans to hold Michael's funeral today.
Few Denverites know that Colorado rates eighth in the country for suicides, according to a 2007 study reported by Electa Draper, denverpost.com.
Here are a few warning signs someone might be contemplating suicide:
- Appearing depressed most of the time
- Talking about death or suicide
- Mood swings
- Giving away possessions
- Withdrawal
- Acting impulsively
- Drug or alcohol abuse
- Poor performance at school or work
Untreated depression is the number-one cause of suicide. If you are exhibiting any of the signs above, it is imperative that you get counseling. You can also call one of these suicide hotlines: 1-800-SUICIDE (784-2433), or 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Losing a son this way must be a wrenching experience. I pray the Lord ministers to this mother and her family as they attempt to understand and that they will not blame themselves. This was a decision taken by Michael. A poor decision, but it was his alone. Denver Living Over 55 Examiner
Thank you for posting this. Many parents think their child is "just going through a phase." When my child became depressed, we immediately sought medical help. Nevertheless, her healing was a long haul. Parents: please don't ignore these signs or think you can wait it out.
