We hear the term "Support the arts" quite often. But, it's usually in correlation with supporting arts of our society, which Christians can find themselves perplexed about as some are wonderful while other arts contradict the core beliefs of many Christians. When Watching Judas asks you to support the arts this weekend, they are referring to arts dedicated to glorifying Jesus Christ through the Providence Fine Arts Center.
Providence Fine Arts Center is one of St. Louis' hidden secrets that only a handful of homeschoolers and a few other art-seeking individuals may have discovered. They offer classes in music instruction, dance and drama. You can even find a Kindermusik class at their facilities. They state their vision as following:
We seek to create a Christ-centered environment where parents, students and teachers promote excellence in the performing arts and are encouraged to use their talents to glorify God.
Eric Barfield, Christian and Aaron from the band Watching Judas are graduates of the center and are hosting a fundraising concert on March 19, 2010 at First Christian Church of Florissant to benefit the Providence Fine Arts Center.
The church is located at 2890 Patterson Road in Florissant. The concert starts at 7:00 p.m., but plan on arriving early as doors open at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 of which the entire amount will be donated to the Providence Fine Arts Center.
