Singing with Luther Barnes, Bryan Wilson (former member of Mississippi Mass Children’s Choir), Fred Jones Mime Ministry, Comedian Rodney Johnson, Zeb Harrison and the New Life Praise Band and Micah Stampley, the all male chorus - 100 Men in Black - is under the direction of Marlon E. West. Marlon is the former Minister of Music at Orange Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Durham, NC.
With a diverse style of music singing traditional gospel, quartet, spirituals, contemporary gospel, anthems, chorale and a capella music, 100 Men in Black is an independent, community-based male chorus with open membership to all within the Triangle community that selects a yearly charitable cause to support. The group is composed of males of all age groups and ethnicities.
Some of the ways they have given back to the community are:
- donations to Durham Urban Ministries Community Soup Kitchen
- donations to Labour of Love Ministry
- several $500 scholarships to young men enrolling in college
- minister in song at various retirement, nursing homes, and homeless shelters
- minister in song at the C.A. Dillon Boy’s Prison bi-annually
The 100 Men in Black Male Chorus is planning its first Sister-cities eight day tour to Durham, England scheduled for this month. When you are afforded the opportunity to see them live, don’t pass up opportunity.
