Hundreds expected to give lives to Christ at Biker Bash Texas Labor Day weekend Part 1

As Labor Day approaches, many are getting ready for cookouts, the lake, or to just sit back and relax. Granbury is getting ready to be over run with motorcycles. The first annual Biker Bash Texas will be held this Labor Day weekend, September 5-7, 2009. Events will take place in Historic Downtown Granbury on the town square.

The Warriors for Christ's Biker Bash Texas will be replacing the Thunder Over Texas rally that had been held in Granbury the last three years. Christian bikers were disappointed when it was discontinued. They wanted to have their own rally to support their lifestyle and beliefs, so Warriors for Christ stepped up to the plate and have organized and sponsored their own rally, Biker Bash Texas.

Warriors for Christ, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, is the result of David and Lesa Kimbrow’s passion for Christ and their desire to spread the Gospel. Lesa met David when she was 18 and has been by his side ever since… at least when he wasn’t in prison. David’s road to God was a rough one. (To view David's testimony, click here.) Having started smoking pot and drinking at an early age, he dropped out of high school, which led to events where he was shot and stabbed. He overdosed twice before the age of 20 and spent 10 years collectively in and out of prison. But all that changed when he had an accident that left him broken and bruised. God saw His opening and took it.

When David was able to walk again, he began going to prisons with the Bill Glass group and giving his testimony to inmates. Eventually, he and Lesa founded Warriors for Christ. David became an ordained minister and is now pastor of Warriors for Christ Biker Fellowship.

Founded four and half years ago, Warriors for Christ is a prison and motorcycle ministry. Starting with just six members, they now have well over 50 members with chapters as far away as Birmingham, Alabama. They minister to the homeless and on the street. Not all of their members have been to prison. For some, the reason to attend is simply, Warriors for Christ Biker Fellowship better suits their lifestyle while allowing them to have a relationship with Christ.

They travel to prisons around Texas and the US, as well as locally, sharing their testimonies and experiences with the inmates. And, every Christmas, they sponsor an Angel Tree for children of inmates at Hood County Jail.

When I asked why Warriors for Christ decided to put on the Biker Bash, Lesa Kimbrow said, "At last years rally, over 1200 gave their lives to the Lord. We hope to top that this year, and THAT is why we decided to do Biker Bash Texas!"

Warriors for Christ will have a booth set up at the rally. If you would like to help out this worthy cause, donations will be accepted at their booth. Their only other source of revenue is through the offerings during their services. At this time, they are in desperate need of funds for a new building. Services are currently being held under a tent and with the many children and youth attending, the weather is difficult to handle.

Come on out to Granbury Labor Day weekend and see what Warriors for Christ has to offer. Warriors for Christ will have church services on Sunday at 10:00 and would love to have you come sit and listen to David tell about the love God has for us. During the weekend, testimonials will be heard along with music and inspirational speakers. This is a family event that will include bike shows, hotrod shows, tight rope walkers, a bike rodeo, kids activities and more.

Biker Bash Texas will be in downtown Granbury located about 30 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
