Tim Tebow says no to sex before marriage

As a Buckeye fan, when the name Tim Tebow comes to mind it makes me wince. I don’t like Florida. It amazes me that grown men and women would stand up and move their arms up and down in a gator chomp. It also doesn’t help we were thumped by them two years ago. But in the spirit of impartiality Tim Tebow is an amazing football player, but it’s what he’s doing off the field that is getting just as much attention and rightly so.

College football has become an obsession, to the people in the south where Tebow resides its religion. Tim has arguably the most difficult, high pressure position in college football. Both on the field and off he handles himself with grace and dignity. In the summers he flies overseas to attend mission trips. He’s open and vocal about his faith. At the SEC media days someone asked him if he was saving himself for marriage, his reply was “Yes.” While it was an unusual and albeit unprofessional question to ask, Tim stood up to the mike and answered.

There are many college football players that wear their faith on their sleeves like Tebow, but Tebow is in a unique position. Being a quarterback and the big man on campus, he is exposed to everything a young man could experience and yet continues to stand firm in his faith. In a sport where the headlines are filled with suspensions and arrests, it’s refreshing to hear about an athlete so devoted to his faith and doing so much in his community and around the world. Tim’s example of faith shows that no matter what situations you encounter in life you can stand firm in your faith and succeed.
