The Ark of the Covenant, the chest of gold built by Moses to house the Ten Commandments, may have been found, according to an Italian news report. The Leader of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Abuna Pauolos met with Pope Benedict XVI June 24th to discuss the Ark.
The Italian news agency, Adnkronos, reported that Pauolos had planned to "unveil" the Ark in a formal press conference on Friday, June 26th -- but no such announcement was made.
In an African Reuters article published June 30th, however, the leader of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Abune Paulos, stated that he had never intended to unveil the Ark. "I am deeply disappointed that the Italian media misquoted me and disseminated false information about me unveiling the Ark of the Covenant to the world," he said. "It is a fabrication, disinformation." Paulos confirmed, however, that the Ark of the Covenant is currently in a holy shrine in Ethiopia. According to the Reuters article, only a small number of priests have been able to go near the room where the Ark is said to be kept.
Bob Cornuke -- "a real-life Indiana Jones" who participated in a History Channel documentary about the Ark of the Covenant called, Digging for the Truth -- told WND reporters: "They either have the Ark of the Covenant or they have a replica that they believed to be the Ark of the covenant for 2,000 years."
Other scholars are skeptical, however, and do not believe claims that the Ark is in Ethiopia.
Regardless, the Ark of the Covenant is a treasured spiritual artifact. In the Old Testament of the Bible, God instructed Moses on Mount Sinai to build the Ark of the Covenant and a Holy Tent so that God could live among His people as they traveled through the desert to the Promised Land (Israel). The Ark of the Covenant was placed in special section of the Holy Tent -- the "Most Holy Place" -- where God would appear in a cloud. Because the Ark of the Covenant was holy, it could not be touched by human hands, and only the Levite priests were permitted to be near the Ark. The priests covered the Ark and carried it on poles whenever they traveled.
In the Book of Joshua, God instructed Joshua (Moses' successor as leader of the Israelites) to use the Ark of the Covenant to perform miracles: as a tool to part the Jordan River for the Israelites and as a weapon to bring down the walls of Jericho, an enemy fortress (Joshua 6). Neighboring countries began to fear the Israelite army, attributing the Israelites' many victories to the Ark of the Covenant.
In I Samuel, the Philistines captured the Ark and took it to Ashdod, where they placed it in the temple of their god, Dagon. But God destroyed the statue of Dagon and sent a plague into Ashdod. After seven months of misery and death, the Philistines sent the Ark away. King David eventually brought the Ark back to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:1-15), and his son, Solomon, built a temple for the Ark of the Covenant (I King 8). But the Israelites fell into decline and began worshipping other gods. After several warnings (through prophets), God eventually allowed the Babylonians to destroy Jerusalem, and the Ark was lost.
The Ark of the Covenant is mentioned in the New Testament, as well, in the book of Hebrews. Before the temple was destroyed, only the High Priest was permitted to enter the Most Holy Place with the Ark of the Covenant to atone for the sins of Israel (with animal sacrifices). In Hebrews 9, the writer explains that as a high priest, Jesus entered the Most Holy Place in heaven to atone for the sins of humankind with his own blood. This is the new covenant that was prophesied in the Old Testament (Jeremiah 31:31). Jesus reiterated the new covenant in the Last Supper, a Passover meal he ate with his followers before he died. Jesus took a cup of wine, gave thanks to God, and said, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you" (Luke 22:20).
The Ark of the Covenant is mentioned in the Book of Revelations -- the last book of the Bible that foretells the end of the world. In Revelations 11, the seventh angel blew his trumpet to announce the "third trouble," and the heavens opened, revealing the Ark of the Covenant in God's temple . . . the heavenly version of what was built on earth.

This guy is supposed to be a man of God? Yet he lies? If he really has the ark then he would have shown it by now.
You are supposed to help people belive in God. If you have some sort of proof that he Bible is indeed true.. then why hide it from the world? It does not make sense!
I think it makes sense to hide it. It is made of gold to start with. How would it last for thousands of years if the priests in charge of it had it out for display all this time.
To me, the ark being found would just be another sign of the times that we live in. There are going to soon be a lot of signs that prove the bible to be true yet a lot of people will still remain blind to the truth.
It is indeed an exciting time to be alive!

This story has been totally misunderstood from the very beginning. It appears that the Patriarch never said that he was going to reveal the Ark of The Covenant. You can see the original quote in Italian and its translation as was reported by an Italian paper. see here www.nazret.com
There are many things in the bible that are "true". I doubt anyone disputes that. Is it the "Word Of God", though, or just a collection of heavily edited writings by primitive tribesmen, that's the question.
Ok my personal thoughts are this.
I am sick of hearing about some 3rd world country who cant even feed themselves holding on to some sacred relic as if its theirs to do as they want to do with it. They have all these we are starving please feed us ads on tv. enough is enough if you ask me.

The country of ethiopia is worthless it has no value and if they do have the Ark they have no right to hold on to it for the last 3000 years.
This man in all rights has put Christianity on Trial. Show the Ark before the end of this month or have a multinational task force come in and begin fire bombing these people till they give it up . No one man or nation has a right to hold onto the Ark. This is not the Time Of Moses.

Hilarious! Like the tomb of James, brother of Jesus, this too will be found unauthentic. There's a very simple reason why too. If you doubt this, just read the book, The Bible Unearthed, by Finkelstein and Silberman. Then read the numerous books that research the scholarship on the authenticity of the N.T., and the mythological parallels of its characters. Same for the O.T. too. ALL of the Bible is myth--in its entirety; from cover to cover.
And this is being written by a former conservative Christian who found the plentiful evidences for the above and much more.
No Adam, no Moses, no Abraham, no prophets, no David or Solomon, no Jesus or Apostles. It is all myth. Read The Jesus Mysteries, or the many other books that contain the abundant research on these topics. Be brave, set yourself free of enslaving myths.
Oh, by the way. The Egyptians were the ones from whom the O.T. authors borrowed the idea of the Arch of the Covenant. The original Arch was an Egyptian story. Do the research. All of the O.T. is borrowed myths. Scholars know this, so can you.

I agree.. Religion is silly.. Why? Because man shapes and forms religion.. It's spirituality that is what is true.. What is right. Anyone can form religion.. We may read the paper or watch the news or do this or that "religiously".. but that doesn't make it right or true. Those who founded this country (U.S.A), were spiritual.. But as we expanded, people turned spirituality into religion.. Which is why it became warped and misshapen, as well as repulsive. I am a Christian, yes, and I believe in the total inherency of Scripture.. People will try to give "facts" to prove it wrong all the time.. But it won't sway my faith.. Without God, I say science has quite a bit of explaining to do (still). It's an open forum, always subject to change.. Why is there only some consistency? Anyway.. I hope this is the real Ark.. Even if so, it couldn't hurt anyone.. The Spirit of God left it when Christ died and was resurrected. But it will be crucial to rebuilding the temple.. May Christ return soon!
Have some of you lost all sense of reason? The Ark of the Covenant is not the the physical chest. It is what the chest contained within. Additionally, if this was really the Ark of the Covenant, it was a covenant (agreement or contract) between the ancient Israelites and God; not anyone today. If there is to be an unveiling, this object would become an object of worship (idolatry). We live in a wicked generation, the Bible says and only a wicked generation seeks a sign. We are to walk by faith not by sight. Jesus was right on when he said, that we know not what we do. (We don't know what we are doing).
I think this whole thing is a scam. You have three different photos of the ark. God only made one. Why do you now bring out the ark. In my readings over the years, i was to understand it was lost, only to be found at the end of time. Further more how do we know if that is the real ark, as i said before you have 3 different pictures of the ark. God did warn us of this, false prophets etc etc etc. You know its bad enough you have lied and betrayed the world into believeing Global warming. Now you want people to believe, that this is the real ark. Just to add, only one person can open the ark, Jesus Christ. Anybody else i understand will die. Roland is right. The Bible is a book of Jewish fairytales and myths. The Ark is a copy of Egyptian arks that still exist. This one is probably a late fake.

We don't need to 'see' the ark of the covenant to have proof that the Bible is true. Read it, repent of your sin, ask Jesus into your heart and you will know because you will have an experience that passes all understanding. Don't walk by sight, anyone can do that. Walk by faith, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Can one be absolutly certain the American Translated Bible is %100 accurate. So many scholars have rewritten the bible. It was printed in a lost language to use originally but then was translated to each language. so can anyone really be so sure that the people that translated it were all accurate in their translations. It can get pretty sketchy as to translating words over and over again. It is like playing the game telephone. By the time it gets to the end it is a whole other phrase. Anyways thats just my view on it all.
I believe that the “ark of the covenant” (Heb.9:4) and “the ark of his (God’s) testament” (Re.11:9) are one in the same, and contain the “tables of the covenant” (Heb.9:4), the Ten Commandments.
I believe that the ark of the covenant/the ark of his testament is now in the temple of God in heaven (Re.11:19).
At the Seventh TRUMPET (1 Thess.4:16-17), the temple of God is opened in heaven to reveal the ark of His testament (Re.11:19).
And, again, at the GIVING of the Seven Last PLAGUES (Re.15:1-8), “the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened” (Re.15:5), wherein is contained “the ark of his testament” (Re.11:19), “the ark of the covenant” (Heb.9:4).

Bible Critic....you are clueless. Archeology continues to prove that the Bible is the most historically accurate document we know of. Jesus is absolutely real and if the prophocies are as accurate as the historical aspect of the Bible, Jesus will be returning. And I believe it will happen soon.

Not sure what history you have been reading, but hardly any of the bible is archeologically supported. We have zero conclusive evidence whatsoever of David or Solomon. We recently discovered that Nazareth didn't even exist until the 2nd century. The reality is that there is little in the Bible that is supported archeologically supported.
Jeremiah hid it in a cave. Only a HOLY pope will find it. Ethiopians don't have it.
The bible is not true word for word you don't have to look past geneius to know that there are two creation story's that contradict one another, one right after the other.
Look past the words for the true meaning it's simply guidelines for being a decent human being.

I have always understood the ark to contain something that the Jews would need to begin sacrificing again, but last year they actually did the first sacrifice again and are practicing it now. I was under the impression that you had to have ashes of a Red Calf and the last ashes were in the ark keeping them from doing their sacrifice. I have no clue if that is true or not maybe someone out there can update me on this.

Since when is Greek a lost language? In our Greek Orthodox church, we don't use a translation. We just read from the original. Anyway, this church in Ethiopia has always claimed to have the Ark. This isn't really news. No one has "found" anything. These people have always said they had it, and this article just says that maybe sometime they'll offer proof. They haven't shown it publicly yet, and haven't offered proof yet. Nothing new at this point!

make a research for the natural disasters for the past 8 or 9 years , and you will see that its rising in an abnormal way , and it is mention in the book of revelation , that before the end comes , disasters will happen , such as volcanoes , tsunamis , floods , Famine , plagues , diseases , earth quakes .
