While President Obama gets major backlash for daring to say that blowing money in Vegas (aka Sin City) is a bad idea due to the economic state of America, it seems that raising money ‘the old fashioned’ way is perfectly fine for some. Fox News is reporting this morning that a 19 year old girl from New Zealand has successfully used the internet to auction off her virginity to the highest bidder in order to pay for college.
Apparently quite satisfied with the results, the 19 year old virgin, who penned herself as “Ungirl” made comments on the Ineed auction site February 3rd, stating that she had found herself desperate for money and was delighted with the outcome of her auction. Ungirl thanked the 1200 bidders who vied for her virginity.
Ungirl put stipulations on the bidding, believing that since she hadn’t been in a sexual relationship before that when she offered her virginity to the highest bidder, she would do so ‘as long as all personal safety aspects are observed and with full awareness of possible consequences.’
As a Christian, a Mom and a woman in her forties, it is obvious to me that the only possible consequences she’s thinking about at this moment are the physical and monetary ones. Reverence to her emotional and spiritual state, her reputation and her future seem to have been discarded for the sake of financial gain. I don’t know about New Zealand but here in America we have a name for those who sell their bodies for sex – Prostitutes.
One has to wonder what kind of future this Ungirl might have? More importantly, what kind of future relationships will she have if she has so devalued herself at such a young age? I heard a commentator on a radio show state this morning “Hey, most teens give it away for free. At least she’s getting something out of it.” And that my friends is the problem; the attitude that it’s okay to do something immoral, potentially hurtful, with long-term side effects…as long as we’re getting something out of it!
While the owners of the auction website (whose motto of “anything you need – when you need it” is quite ironic in this case) say they don’t place moral judgments on people and what they auction, they do however take an auction item down from the site if the law is being broken. According to New Zealand Police no laws were broken by Ungirl’s actions but they do not suggest nor condone such ads due to safety for both parties involved.
Couple this particular19 year old’s ‘success’ with the fact that she had over 30,000 hits on her ad and I dare say that media outlets will no doubt soon be vying for the graphic details of her story. The explosion of Reality Show wanna-be’s in the past decade could draw out a plethora of Ungirls…and Unguys…from every country. For those who seek such fame and for this girl, I encourage you to pray.
How much is your virginity worth? Ungirl has shown where her priorities and self-esteem sit because she apparently feels she is only worth the mere $31,900.00 that the highest bidder is going to pay her. For those who know who they are, WHOSE they are and just what their self-respect, love and dignity mean, I hope you know without a doubt that your virginity and/or a sexual relationship with you is priceless.

Yeah ! It's getting crazy ! People are selling ad space on their bodies by getting tattooed , their soul, their liver and everything else on EBAY ! If gambling was suspended in the U.S. for a period of one year it would stimulate the economy by 90 billion dollars. That's how much our citizens spend on gambling per year. It's not really rocket science on how to fix the economy or to create social stability it's just more of a fact that they don't want to !
I wonder if Ungirl will teach her own children...some day...to get what they want by devaluing their total being. How sad.
It's disappointing to see that some people are so lonely that they are willing to lose something that means so much to quite a bit of people that they are actually willing to sell their virginity online to the highest bidder. It just shows just how far we have come when it comes to having convictions and morals that is worth to stand on.
I think there is an extreme double standard in this world. Your told at a young age as a woman that saving your virginity is the right thing to do, it's religious, it's moral, and if you can't wait until marriage then at least you should lose your virginity with the one you love, yet young boys are being pulled aside told that you should be unvirginazed when you are 14 so you now what sex is and you can be the man

when it comes time to have sex with the woman you love, I personally know what it's like to be a virgin. I still am one. I set a goal for myself when i was young that i wouldn't have sex until i was at least 21 because i do love my body and soul and believe that it's important the first time. i set a goal because i wasn't stupid, i knew this world and i knew i might not even make my goal. see, i live in the "real world". now, because i chose to wait,
i cannot get rid of my virginity. i feel as if i have no need for it any longer because it's been over 3 years since my goal, i understand love, and because no one wants a virgin. sure, every man will tell you they want a virgin, but they don't. They want someone who's experienced, has already felt the pain of the first time, and knows how to pleasure them. I fell in love and because i'm "young and innocent, i can't have the love of my life, which i really wanted to have sex with because i love him and in loving him, desired him, and he just let me go, but because
this society we live in, it's acceptable as a nor to lose your virginity by being completety wasted with someone you don't love, you can't sell your virginity because your morals caused you to be a virgin in the first place and you cant have sex and lose your virginity because then you're considered to never truly have loved that person to begin with. so while your hands are tied, in this society while the man can't "deflower" you, he can go around and screw everyone whol's already been deflowered and he gets praised by his peers for being moral
and conscience about not making a girl lose her virginity and just a little add on, love has nothing to do with age, and people can get over the fact that you love someone, would they not want you to support that?, yet, our society encourages no older/younger relationships because it's seen as just a sexual or finiancial relationship when those people may have truely loved each other or maybe not, these choices are theirs and i think alot of choices people make are based on our peers and society which is why i'm sending this to this webpage, because all i see is people judging, and people are quick to judge without knowing the whole story.......
