Comedian declares, "The Government Can!" (see video)

Tired of the constant deluge of political misinformation, bi-partisan feuds and media wars? Are you weary of being infuriated? Plain fed up with the status of our current government? Then you are not alone.

Day and night, on the web, the radio and half the channels on television you can hear varied opinions, arguments, dissertations, projections and lies about the state of our nation.
Like many of us, comedian Tim Hawkins, is ready for a laugh…at the expense of this mixed up, saddened political juncture in which we find ourselves. Laughs are definitely what Hawkins dishes up in this video called, “The Government Can”.
While many late-night variety shows are heaping up a daily deliverance of governmental jokes and political parodies, few do it better than Hawkins does in his latest video. With simple wit and musical entertainment to boot, who can resist such a playful punch as this?
Tim Hawkins, popular Christian Comedian, shows his insightful humor in this parody of a popular children’s song that many of you will recognize from the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. (Or from the rendition made wildly popular by Sammy Davis Jr.)
While it is indeed a sad commentary on the state of our quickly fading democracy, it’s also a musical rendition you just don’t want to miss! To all staunch patriots, I make no apologies. I am one as well…but there are times when we all just need to laugh at ourselves. I hope you enjoy.

For those of you who are die-hard Hawkins fans, or want to be, you can catch him on the March 2010 Disney Comedy Cruise. For more information head to: Disney Destinations

Were probably the most political country in the world. It's one of the biggest advantages of living overseas. I cringe of the thought of turning on talk radio or a cable news program. It's overwhelmingly apparent that the American people don't have the same political objectives as the people that are puppeteering the White House and Congress. I think it's became an obsession with the American people that they have no voice in their government and that the electoral system has just become a formality.

Richard writes:" It's overwhelmingly apparent that the American people don't have the same political objectives as the people that are puppeteering the White House and Congress."
Considering you that you think this is so apparent, I'm sure you have some very convincing evidence to support this? In fact I think there is little truth in it.

What does seem apparent to me is that the influence of money in the political process is very effective in steering, deceiving, frightening and pushing the electorate toward corporate and moneyed interests.

Even more facscinating is how this supposedly Christian video, which is really cheap polemics without even original music, is a fear mongering distortion of reality. Its part of the unholy alliance between the Christian fundamentalists and rabid right.

OMG Al, grow a sense of humor. This is not a fear-inducing video and it's supposed to have music that people already relate to and know - that's what humor and entertainment often use. Give us a break. Not every single thing is a stance against some one else's beliefs or a planned political ploy. Some things are just plain made for entertainment and fun. This is one of them. Grow a funny bone.

Well WhoRa, if you find this amusing, knock yourself out. I have my own taste in humor. This isn't it.

I enjoy John Stewart and Colbert. They use irony, wit, intelligence, logic, and sometimes outrageous extensions to the absurd.

    This is drivel.
