Dr. George Tiller VS. the BTK is there a similarity?

George tiller, tiller, abortion doctor, wichita abortionist, baby killer, tiller the killer,
Wichita abortion doctor, Dr. George Tiller

Dr George Tiller vs the BTK, is there a similarity? The comparison is being made between the two men quite frequently. According to family and friends, both George Tiller and Dennis Radar were great husbands, awesome fathers, and according to Tiller's family, a very loving grandfather. Both men were also involved in their churches and served in ministry at times.

This comparison has started a firestorm of opinion concerning the two men. Everyone admits that the B.T.K. was a horrible, evil, godless man who deserves death, for all of those that he bound, tortured, and killed. Yet, in Wichita, home to both Dr. Tiller, and the B.T.K., even the Christian community is split in opinion, and very heated in their opinions.

Just as there are many that say Tiller was a good, and godly man, there are just as many Christians and ministers who say that he was a killer. One pastor I talked to, who wished to go nameless said, "It is a battle over age. I believe that the moment that life springs in womb, it is a human being, property of no one. If that is true, than Tiller murdered way more people by his own hands, than any one man in history."

Dennis Radar and Dr. George Tiller's polar opposites

BTK, B.T.K., serial killer, Dennis rader, wichita serial killer, Rader,

Although these two men did seem to have a few similarities, even these similarities seem to carry opposing motives. "The B.T.K. was a deciever." one woman told me, "he had his wife, daughter, family, friends, pastor, and co-workers tricked for years. Tiller, on the other hand lived his life transparently and was a genuine man." I asked her if she felt that he was a good man and she said, "I believe that abortion is sin and murder, but Tiller genuinely did not believe that it was murder. He truly believed that he was doing good, and every other area of his life was seemed to testify to that.

Dennis Radar (B.T.K.) was a murderer at heart. He enjoyed Binding women, torturing women, and killing women. He terrified people for pleasure. The B.T.K. made serial killing an art, in his own mind. In court, Dennis admitted that he knew it was wrong and evil, but he enjoyed it. He had a secret life. His wife didn't know that the man she was holding tightly to at night, during those years of horror, was the very beast that brought that horror.

George Tiller was a committed husband. He was involved in his childrens lives, and made it a mission to teach them important life lessons through axioms "pearls of wisdom for how life should be lived", scripture, he wrote encouraging letters to his children letting them know how proud he was of them, and he loved "Star Trexioms" as his daughter Rebecca said at the funeral "He said 'Read these every day before you go out, and you will be successful in life.' Then she shared a several:
"Seek out new life and new civilizations."
"Kepp your phaser on stun."
"Humans are highly illogical."
"Live long and prosper."
"When going out into the universe remember: Boldly go where no man has gone before."

According to an article in Sunday's Wichita Eagle, Tiller's children spoke of his unconditional love, counsel and advice, and his warmth, humor and humanity.

So, when it comes to the lives of the two men, I believe that it is pretty easy to see that there was no real similarity between the two. Although both men did terminated life, both men had families, and both men were invloved in their churches; there is no doubt that the B.T.K. was an evil man who lived his life in secret and loved evil, loved being a monster, and Dr.George Tiller lived his life in the open, believed in family, and fought for what he felt was right, regardless of what we believe 'right' to be. Dr. Tiller, knew he was fighting much of the world. He kept himself in the open: no secrets. Dennis, lived in shadows, hid from the world, and deceived those who loved him. In an interview with Paula Rader, former wife of the BTK, she says that Dennis was good at commiting these horrible murders, and then come home and acting normal, as if nothing ever happened at all.

This is such a heated topic that really asks the questions: What is sin? What is evil? Is The B.T.K. an evil man because he murdered in secret? If abortion is sin, and murder, did Tiller make it alright because he lived a moral life and terminated life in the open, instead of secret? Will we ever come to an agreement on when a living mass becomes a person with rights to life?

Regardless of the answers, the Christian community has gathered in prayer for the family, and have done alot to say to the community, Wichita, and the world that the Church does not agree with the killing of Dr. Tiller, and that his death was not the the answer that it was praying for. Several pro-life organizations have held prayer services for Tiller's family and Operation Rescue put out a statesment saying that they had hoped and prayed that his clinic would have been closed by a decision in court, not at the hand of a killer.

This is still an incredibly hot topic, feel free to chime in and let me know what you think about it.

People really compare them? Even though I am pro-life and am not a tiller supporter I think this is crazy! Tiller from what I have read really thought he was doing women good, and the BTK knew damn well he was doing wrong.

I don't know. Maybe Tiller thought he was a good man doing good things for women in true medical need. Or maybe he was a monster like BTK who knew he was doing evil, but either did it for the money or because he enjoyed it. Maybe he licked the placenta and ejaculated on it at night, in the dark, quiet stillness of his own, private Auschwitz. Who knows? Only God.
