Searching for Ronald Reagan, will it be Huckabee in 2012
At the annual values voters summit over the weekend, there was as usual a straw poll of potential candidates for the next presidential election. Mike Huckabee was ahead of the pack with 28 persent and there was a four way tie for second place with Romney, Palin, Mike Pence and Tim Pawlently.
My choice in 2008 was Mike Huckabee, he wasn't perfectly conservative but he was far and away better than candidates like Giuliani and McCain. I couldn't quite trust Romney's record of liberalism or somewhat slick looking persona and still can't. Looking back in some ways I'm glad it was McCain that was picked. As poor a campaign as McCain ran it just might have been that no one would have beaten Obama, Now, maybe Huckabee can win the GOP primaries for the 2012 election. Right now it looks like any Republican candidate could beat Obama, with his dropping poll numbers. But we all know things can change quickly, especially with election polls. More importanly I think any true trustworth conservative can beet a liberal politician almost any day of the week. Though not perfect I think Huckabee is true to his word and principled with a decent conservative background.
Some so called conservatives have said that the era of Reagan is dead. I don't think that's true but there are no stand out Reagan-esk leaders right now. We don't need to keep looking for one and waiting for one. When there is a candidate like Reagan we will all know it, but this kind of person in politics is rare and you can't get a Reagan to run every four or eight years. In the mean time we can look for good candidates. I think Huckabee is a good candidate. If however, someone in the mold of Reagan popped up in 2012, of course conservatives would rally around him. Even if we can't have Reagan we can easily do a lot better than Obama.

I am a conservative at heart.I voted for the first time in 08 because I felt like Bush had basically took our Constitution and crapped on it.I listened very closely to both major party nominees.I voted for McCain because he was the lesser of two evils. After seeing Obama and his daily assault on our senses I am doubtful that we can trust anybody who has made it a mission to become president.
I would back Huckabee. The guy is an amazing debater who would expose Obama in front of the entire country if they had a Presidential debate.
Just what we need in the White House: A Young Earth Creationist who will take science education and science policy back to the 19th Century.
With my first choice as Ron Paul a distant dream, Huckabee is probably our only good option left.
As for his standpoint on how we got here, Pastafarian, why is that relevant to leading a country?
Are you unfamiliar with how deeply the federal government is into education at all levels, Brett?
Or do you not understand that one of the powers of the president is to appoint federal judges at all levels - and that to date federal judges have been the last resort for keeping creationist mythology out of science education?
I start by examining a politician on various 'no go' issues, starting with their position on firearms (gun control? no go!) followed immediately thereafter on 'creationism' - the second 'no go' because science education is so critical to the future of this country.
Brett, that is the democrat dream and Obama second term. Huckapedia,Mike is not look like Reagan, both have too different personal character and different leadership style,Reagan is stronger, smarter, more power full speaker,Mike is not the best choice for republican and is not the right leader for America.Personal character, personal strength and leadership style can be the right choice for republican and can be the winner for republican and America,Mitt is the strongest, smartest, best character, most power full speaker like Reagan and can beat Obama.in 2012 will be the economy matter for America,so that issue will go to Mitt Romney, yes!he is the right man for the right job,the right person for the right place, and the right leader for the right country.

Personally I would prefer a President who understands the value of REAL science as opposed to folklore and superstition.
But if the GOP wants to nominate Huckabee, by all means, DO! Nothing would make me happier!
