Rifqa Bary was a teenager living in Ohio. Her Parents are Muslims and belong to a Mosque with a dubious history of being linked to terrorism. Rifqa recently ran away after her father discovered that she had become a Christian. Rifqa ran away to Florida to a Christian couple whom she had met on Facebook. Rifqa says her father was going to kill her as an honor killing for changing her religion and becoming a Christian.
Temporarily a Florida court is letting the 17 year old stay in the custody of foster parents. While Rifqa is almost legally an adult by age her and her family are not citizens and the family appears to be almost five years late on their visa.
There are anywhere between one and two billion Muslims in the world. If that number is anywhere close to correct the majority of Muslims must not be violent or radical. There are also claims that there are two billion Christians in the world. Just as in Christianity, Islam has its followers who are nominal or who are born into the religion but don’t really follow it. Even though most Muslims are not violent, many are.
Muslims follow more than just the Koran. They also have to listen to clerics and their fatwas, Sharia law and the Hadith. The Hadith is the oral tradition of what Mohammed and his companions said and did.
The Koran itself teaches violence. There are so many verses it is hard to ignore.
Honor killings happen all over the world and have happened in the United States recently.
Rifqa made an impassioned plea that she not be made to return home to her parents. Her parents claim that she has been sucked in by a Christian couple. Defenders of Islam have said such things as “everybody says they will “kill” their children at one point or another, they don’t really mean it.” Rifqa’s father has said he has a Christian friend and his daughter had been a cheerleader so it’s ridiculous that he would kill her. While this reasoning does make you think there is something to what the father is saying, many normal sounding people have killed and killed for what they believe is honor. Rifqa being a cheerleader is different than becoming a convert to another religion. Her father having a Christian friend is not the same as his daughter leaving Islam.
This is not about defaming Islam but saving Rifqa Bary.

When I first heard about this a couple weeks ago I was stunned.The girl is afraid she will be killed?I hope that somehow she is allowed to stay where she is.Maybe her parents can be deported.
One only have to do google search to find out hundreds of cases of violence against women in Islamic / muslim countries and communities. I will believe the Rifqa more than any muslim person, cleric or her parents. In this case even if I err I would be happy to err on the safety of Rifqa side.

This is a case about a girl that is Histrionic and has been brainwashed by Christian Extremists. Right now the Global Revolution Church and the Lorenz family are trying to hide their money, because they know they and everybody that has helped with contributing to the delinquency of this minor will be taken to court again after this case is over. It is very telling that the Pastor left the country before the last trial and now they are renaming the Church!

Why is it that whenever something negative is mentioned about Islam, anti-Christian bigots like "Christian Extremists" and"Paxglobal" immediately divert attention away from the violent religious bigotry of Islam by pointing a finger at Christianity (and falsely, I might add)? What do these folks gain by protecting Islamic religious bigotry? Christians don't go around killing people (at least, not any more), but Moslems are killing people in the name of Islam in dozens of countries as we speak. Why are the anti-Christian bigots preventing us from dealing with Islamic religious bigotry?

And which countries have laws based on the Bible?
NONE! ZERO!
We have modern secular laws that abide by universal declaration of human rights and treat everyone equally regardless of race, gender or religion. UNLIKE most Islamic countries that practice Sharia (Based on the Quran and Ahadith) either in its entirety or for civil laws only. Sharia conflicts with the universal declaration of Human rights on many levels.
The fact that so many Islamic countries willingly adopt, abide by and enforce Sharia shows their disregard for human rights and equality and their adherence to an archaic dogma to which modern humans have long outgrown.
So quote the bible all you want... 'cause it is NOT our law!

This is a challenge to John (fake name poster) or to any other islam defender.
One can also google christian cult and come up with kids who have been shut off from their families (with their eaqger agreement). Try googling Rifqa and Xenos cult.
But the number of children killed by Muslim parents in the US (even though incredibly rare) is not the pertinent issue. Nor is the issue how many times the koran (or the Bible) directs death for anything. What is pertinent is whether THIS child is in danger, and if not, then why is she so afraid.

The Muslims are quoting the Bible, mostly the Old Testiment, i.e., the Jewish books. This is mostly history of the Jews, and even most Jews do not take these books as litteral commands of G_d. The Christians believe that the New Testiment overrides and supersedes the New Testiment. Thus most of these quotes are irrelevant.
I don't know enough about Islam to know whether most Muslims believe the Koran is the word of Allah or not. I think they probably do. I should point out that most of the Muslims I know are atheists, and disavow the Koran. Certainly none of them would punish, or even care, if their children became Christian.
However, looking at the Muslim world in general, Rifqa Bary has reason to fear. The murderer of 270 people on a Pan AM airplane was just welcomed back to Libya as a hero. Over one million tee shirts with Osama Bin Laden's picture on them sold in one city in Indonesia, a Muslim country. Continued.
Part II. Virtually every Muslim country on earth either actively persecutes Christians and others or gives preference to Islam. Turkey is about the only exception. The West is at war with Islam at virtually every point of contact.
The scary thing about the Rifqa Bary situation is that there is plenty of reason to believe that Muslims would do what they are accused of. You may quote the Bible concerning beheadings or honor killings or killing of disbelievers, but when was the last time you have actually ever heard of anything like that happening? Unfortunately, the same is not true for Islam.
Muslims are scary. (The religous ones, not the secular ones.) Look what they are doing in Palestine. All the Muslim world is angry at the Jews, but the Muslims have made their own bed and now do not want to lie in it. Was it the Jews who invaded Muslim countries? Was it the Jews who got their butts kicked by an army ten times as big as theirs? No.
Part III Rifqa Bary makes claims with some circumstantial evidence to back it up. The parents deny these claims and put a totally different spin on what she says. True or not, Rifqa's claims, along with the history of Muslim honor killings in the United States gives credence to her claims. Even if there is only a one in one hundred chance that she is right, that is too big a chance to take. She must remain free.
Repeating what someone else has already posted, all of the Christian biblical verses listed here (especially the ones from the New Testament) are historical accounts, where someone is told, go behead a specific, actual person or persons. Unfortunately, the Quran specifically mentions violence against what could be contrued as all Jews and Christians, and polytheists (with whom Christians eventually get lumped because of the divinity of Jesus).
The huge difference between the Bible verses and the Quran suras are each faith's prophet. Christians essentially ignore (or find a theological basis for ignoring) anything that is inconsistent with Jesus' teachings. Jesus never directly killed anyone, robbed anyone, raped anyone, nor did he command anyone else to do these things. Mohammed, however, took sex slaves from the men he beheaded, staged raids where he robbed caravans, etc.
Both Islam and Christianity consider their prophet the perfect human example, a model to emulate for all time
