Honor veterans by recognizing the war on radical Islam
Veterans Day is a day to remember those who have done the work to keep our country free. Without the men and women who protect us and our freedoms every day, the words of the constitution that are so bold and true would be just a wonderful idea. But because of our servicemen and women our country remains a beacon of hope and that shining city on a hill that Ronald Reagan so fondly talked about.
It is cliché to say but we must always remember that freedom is not free. Consider these words of William Wallace through Mel Gibson, “fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!” Deep within we know it is better to die free, than to live imprisoned. This is why we cheer at scenes like this. It takes courage to be free but we know that it is worth it. The fights that we fight for freedom are not just for ourselves but for our children and their children.
America has stood for over 230 years as a free country. Many have sought to take away that freedom, including Islamic terrorists from the Barbary pirates in the shores of Tripoli to the 9/11 hijackers. Regardless of what you think of Islam or Muslims, we must recognize that at the very least, some portion, a large portion of Islam is at war with America and its freedoms.
We recognize some of the battles as terrorist attacks but we don’t understand that we are at war. This war is not a war on manmade disasters. To say it is a war on terror is also stopping short. This is a war on radical Islam. They are at war with us and if we close our eyes to this, it is only a matter of time before we will loose our freedom.
In the past week we had an attack on our country. It was not an isolated incident, a lone gunmen or a random occurrence. Regardless of any ties to terrorists, though it seems they are there, this was an act of terrorism and war by the enemy.
We do not need to round up Muslims and put them in internment camps. Muslims in this country deserve the same freedoms we all experience. We must however wake up to the evil that is going on and understand that it is not isolated. To misunderstand evil is to be blindsided by it. How many times must we be blindsided?

In any society, those who question the belief system espoused by the ruling class are persecuted. In our society, all those in power espouse *equality* and *tolerance*.
To say that a large branch of Islam is unequal to ours and should not be tolerated is more than "politically incorrect." If one accepts this statement as true, then one has admitted that there is a fallacy somewhere in the belief system, and it comes crashing down.
Galileo's writings implied that scientific truth could better be arrived at through experimentation than simply consulting the Pope. The rulers of the day recognized that such thinking was a direct affront to the belief system that was keeping them in power, and forced him to either recant or be put to death.
Similarly, our ruling class will never permit the "mainstream media" to promote any challenge to the belief that all religions serve the oneness and brotherhood of all mankind. I wish you luck in taking on the establishment!

The best quote you can come up with to honor veterans is from some bigoted drunk actor? Gee, thanks.
Only an idiot would deny that we are fighting Islamic fanatics. But only an idiotic bigot would take that to lump all Muslims in the same boat.
I've worked with several Muslim soldiers in Special Forces - and they deserve your honor and respect too.
Wow Larry, such a nice article. But, where were you when Hitler (Christian), KKK(All Christians) were killing people?
Got something to say?
