At the turn of the twentieth century Digory comes to live with his Aunt Letty and Uncle Andrew in
In the dying world of Charn Digory and Polly meet the evil Queen Jadis who they accidentally bring back to our world, where she causes havoc. When they try to take her back to Charn they end up in an empty world, where they witness the creation of Narnia. Queen Jadis escapes into Narnia, and Aslan sends Digory on a mission to the western part of the world to get the seed of the tree which will protect Narnia from her.
The Magician’s Nephew is the sixth book written by C.S. Lewis of “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, though chronologically it is the first book. Of the seven books it is my sixth favorite.
Lewis explores many different themes throughout this book, the most obvious being creation. Forgiveness is another theme; Digory causes great harm to Narnia by bringing Queen Jadis into the world, but he ultimately receives forgiveness for what he has done. As Christians no matter what we do in life if we ask for God’s forgiveness we will receive it.
Note: This week I am highlighting “The Chronicles of Narnia” to read about the other books of the series click on their titles: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, The Horse and His Boy, and The Last Battle.
If there is a book you would like reviewed please write it in the Comments section.
Soli Deo Gloria!
