In the last days of the world of Narnia there lived a donkey named Puzzle and an ape named Shift. One day they found a lion’s skin which Shift made into a coat for Puzzle. Shift decided to use them to make everyone believe Aslan had returned to Narnia, and used his new found power and some Calormens who have come into Narnia to help the Calormens take over Narnia.
When Tirian the last king of Narnia learns what Shift is doing he tries to put a stop to it, but is captured in the process. That night he remembers some of the history of Narnia and the children from another world who sometimes came to help Narnia when things were at their worst. He calls out to Aslan to come and help Narnia or at least send the children from the other world. He is plunged into a dream where he sees the seven friends of Narnia, and the next morning Eustace and Jill arrive to help him.
The Last Battle is the final book of “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, and my fifth favorite of the seven. In this book author C.S. Lewis brings to an end the world he first started writing about in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Lewis gives his perspective on what he believes will happen at the end of our world and applies it the end of the world of Narnia. He also explores what he thinks will happen to the people who have never heard the name of Jesus, and a perspective on what heaven will be like.
Note: This week I have been highlighting “The Chronicles of Narnia” to read about the other books of the series click on their titles: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, The Horse and His Boy, and The Magician’s Nephew.
If there is a book you would like reviewed please write it in the Comments section.
Soli Deo Gloria!
