Disney Princess and Me dolls, outfits, and accessories

New Disney Princess and Me dolls are 18-inch fashion dolls that come with a line of accessories and outfits, as well as dress-up clothes sized to fit their owners. Available at Toys R Us stores and Disney Stores, these new Disney doll versions of Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Tiana, Ariel (the Little Mermaid), and Belle (from Beauty and the Beast) were created to appeal to girls ages 5 to 8 and help them pretend that they belong in the world of their favorite Disney Princess.

These new Disney dolls are featured on the Toys R Us 2010 Holiday Hot Toy List, including being classified one of the Toys R Us Fabulous 15 toys for 2010.

About Disney Princess & Me dolls and accessories

Each 18-inch Disney Princess & Me doll was designed with special attention paid to her hair and facial features and comes dressed in a fancy tiara and a ball gown in her signature color. She has six points of articulation at her neck, shoulder, waist, and hips so that children can move her into a variety of poses.

These large-sized fashion dolls come with tiny princess magazines of Disney Princess fun facts and activities (like Princess Personality quizzes and tips for how to live like a princess), princess certificates, and registration card royal invitations that kids can send in to receive a birthday letter from their favorite Disney Princess.

Disney Princess & Me doll outfits for the toys in this line include ballet outfits (with tutus and lace-up ballet slippers) and royal sleepwear outfits (with nightgowns, robes, and slippers). There is also a Deluxe Holiday Dress outfit for Belle.

Matching dress-up outfits for little girls are designed to look exactly like the dolls' signature gowns and sized 4 to 6X. There are Deluxe Dresses that match the signature ballgown outfits the dolls come with and a Toys R Us exclusive Deluxe Holiday Gown and Cape outfit that matches the Deluxe Holiday outfit for the Belle doll and comes with a fur-trimmed velvet cape with a hood.

Disney Princess & Me accessories include a Royal Wardrobe in which girls can store their doll's outfits (and whose front is decorated with five silver symbols to stand for each princess — a rose for Belle, a shell for Ariel, a crown for Aurora, a slipper for Cinderella, and a frog for Tiana), a Princess Canopy Bed, a Royal Vanity Set (which comes with a tray, a brush, a comb, a hand mirror, and a perfume bottle), and a Royal Tea Time for Two Set (which comes with a teapot, two tea cups, two spoons, a cream pitcher, a serving tray, a cake dish, two saucers, two napkins, one sugar bowl, and two petit four cakes).

Overall, this is a nice line of toys and a good first entry for the Disney Princess franchise into the category of large-sized dolls. That said, girls who are fans of Disney ladies that are not currently represented (Snow White, Jasmine, and the perennially overlooked Mulan and Pocahontas) are going to be very disappointed that their favorites are not available for purchase.

Disney Princess & Me Royal Party event

On Saturday, October 16, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Chicago girls can visit their local Toys R Us store for a Royal Party event during which they can try various free activities like decorating their own Princess and Me tiaras and listening to story time. Stores will also show girls how to enter an online sweepstakes for a chance to win the entire line of Princess and Me dolls, fashions, and accessories.

Disney Princess fans may also be interested in the new Beauty and the Beast toys that accompany the recent release of that classic film on Blu-ray for the first time, as well as the new Rapunzel from Tangled toys that go with that upcoming Disney animated movie.
