Sesame Street is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2009 with the release of several commemorative toys. Both collectors of Sesame Street products and young fans of this classic educational children's show will want to check out these new Sesame Street toys.
Sesame Street Music Player
Reader's Digest has released a Sesame Street Music Player 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition board book. The music player (designed to look like Elmo's face) will play the included Sesame Street CDs while children ages 4 to 8 look at the matching pictures and lyrics in the book.
Tunes include the classic Sesame Street songs "Sesame Street Theme," "Rubber Duckie," "C Is for Cookie," and "People in Your Neighborhood," as well as 20 popular kids' songs such as "The Muffin Man."
40th Anniversary Collectable Corduroy Elmo
Gund has released a Sesame Street 40th Anniversary Corduroy Elmo doll to commemorate this special milesone. This collectable stuffed Elmo doll stands about 21" high, is surface washable, and is appropriate to give to children ages birth and up.

Fisher Price Sesame Street toys
Fisher Price is celebrating 40 years of Sesame Street by releasing a new line of Sesame Street toys available exclusively at Target for now.
- The Fisher Price 1-2-3 Sesame Street Play Set recalls previous play set versions of the Sesame Street neighborhood, such as the Play Family Little People Sesame Street play sets from the 1980s. The play set itself consists of Mr. Hooper's Store and the 1-2-3 Sesame Street apartment building. Features include two figures (Big Bird and Elmo), a hidden storage compartment on the roof, and a hidden drawing area.
- The Fisher Price Sesame Street Bus is a yellow school bus which can hold the figures that come with the 1-2-3 Sesame Street Play Set.
- Target is also selling standalone 2-packs of compatible Sesame Street figures, such as a set containing Elmo and Cookie Monster and a set containing Grover and Oscar the Grouch.
