Many kids don't look forward to bedtime. They're sure the moment they go to sleep, you'll whip out movies and ice cream, and they'll miss out. But when it comes to spending a little one on one time with mom or dad and a great story, they might reconsider. These picture books, specifically about bedtime, will send your child to bed with a smile.

Go to Bed, Monster! by Natasha Wing, illustrated by Silvie Kantorovitz

Sylvie Kantorovitz's whimsical illustrations bring enduring charm to Natasha Wing's story about Lucy, who doesn't want to go to bed. Instead, Lucy decides to draw with crayons. Her crayon companion Monster is tons of fun, Lucy discovers as she leads the way building castles, flying airplanes, and marching in parades. Finally, though, Lucy becomes tired and wants to go to bed, but the stubborn Monster won't. What will Lucy do now that the shoe is on the other foot and she has to get Monster to go to sleep?

Goodnight Lulu by Paulette Bogan

While the pigs listen at the window, Lulu's imagination provides plenty of scary critters such as bears, tigers, and alligators that might slip into the barn while she's sleeping. Momma Chicken promises to do away with each and every one of them. Finally, Lulu asks about the possibility of pigs coming into the barn while she sleeps. Momma Chicken assures Lulu that she has a special plan just for the pigs, but you'll have to read the book to find out what it is.
