Three great ‘worm’ books for children available in Lansing are:
The Worm Book: the Complete Guide to Worms in Your Garden by Loren Nancarrow and Janet Hogan Taylor a great book for beginners at vermicomposting. You can find this great children’s book at the Capital Area District Library (downtown location).
Diary of a Worm by Doreen Cronin and illustrated by Harry Bliss is a darling story about a worm discovering the world. Recommended for ages 4-8 year-olds, Grandma gets a kick out of this children’s book. You can find Diary of a Worm at several of the Capital Area District Libraries.
Winnie Fin, Worm Farmer by Carol Brendler and illustrated by Ard Hoyt is the story of Winnie who wants to enter her worms in the county fair but needs some help. Even though her neighbors are too busy to help she does help them. This book is a great story with a gentle message enjoyable for pre-schoolers and up. There are also simple instructions for starting a worm farm. Winnie Fin, Worm Farmer is also available at several Capital Area District Libraries in Lansing.
All three of these terrific children’s books are also available at both Schuler Books and Barnes & Noble in Lansing. If you can not make it to the Worm Bin Building Workshop why not pick up one or more of these books to share with the kids and maybe start a family worm bin of your own.
