There will be crafts, activities, and nature hikes.

Bringing Nature Home: How You Can Sustain Wildlife with Native Plants, by Douglas W. Tallamy encourages the use and incorporation of native plants in home lawns and gardens, the benefits and in an interesting to read way.
Birds of Michigan by Charles T. Black (Author), Gregory Kennedy (Author), Ted Nordhagen (Illustrator) is a terrific new bird watchers guide and includes not only the clear illustrations but tips on best times, habitats, sounds they make, and even what their nest look like and other species that look similar. Children of all ages will love seeing how many of the 320 Michigan Birds they can spot in their own neighborhood.
Birds of Michigan Field Guide by Stan Tekiela offers readers beautiful pictures of Michigan birds and the format of the book makes it easy for new learners (bird watchers) to find the birds in the book without having to know the name of the bird. There are also some fun bird facts included in the book making it a fun read too.

I love nature centers~ they tie so many great things together! From visual things and on to educational tools. Books are a great way to share an afternoon at a nature center. Oh, and I know Michigan has some beautiful birds. I love a good birding guide!
