My Grown-Up and Me Storytime April 15

What: Children's Event, Storytime
Where: Barnes & Noble - Lansing Mall
When: Thursday April 15, 2010 10:00 a.m.

The Barnes & Noble 'My Grown-Up and Me Storytime' April 15 will be sharing three great books by children's books author Rosemary Wells. Come and join the fun with 'Max and Ruby' the books that will be read are: Max's Dragon Shirt, Max Cleans Up, and Max's Bunny Business.

Max's Bunny Business Age Range: Infants-Preschool
A typical sibling rivalry ensues when Ruby works to earn money so she can buy flashing rings for herself and her friend. Max decides he too wants a flashing ring and manages to earn the money before Ruby does. This darling book will hold the attention of little ones with the shinny accents on the jewelry, coins and Max’s truck.

Max's Dragon Shirt Age Range: Ages 3-7
As usual for the bunny brother and sister combination of Max and Ruby this story takes us to the store where Max is supposed to buy new pants. Getting side-tracked with a shirt with a dragon on it Ruby loses track of Max long enough for him to find the dragon shirt and get ice cream all over it. Delightful banter between the siblings accompanied by the wonderful illustrations fill the pages of this children’s book.

Max Cleans Up Age Range: Ages 3-8
This charming book takes us to Max’s room where he is supposed to be cleaning with sister Ruby’s help. Max’s version of cleaning however is more like how much stuff and he stuff into his pockets. The variety of pictures including ants, gravel, foil and more keep the younger children’s attention and lots of laughs from the older one.

From the author Rosemary Wells, “New Jersey was farm country and I spent much of my time outdoors, running around the woods behind our house and playing baseball with the neighbor’s kids. I spent a lot of time with animals, horses, and dogs. My grandmother took me on special trips to the theater and museums in New York City. I was born during a golden age of childhood in our country’s history. And, I was lucky because my parents were happy and they supported all that I wanted to do. They had both been in the theater and understood the arts from the inside. We had a houseful of wonderful books. Reading stories aloud was as much a part of my childhood as the air I breathed.” You can learn more about Rosemary and her books at her web site: Rosemary Wells

I enjoy Rosemary Wells' work. She was my author study project in children's literature in college way back when.
