Saturday April 10th is the 5th annual Delta Township District Library Run for Reading. The run includes a 5K Run/Walk and a 1/4 Mile Kids FunRun. The race is open to runners, walkers, and even walkers pushing strollers so the whole family can be included in the race. The proceeds from the race go to support the library.
There will be lots of prizes given out for each of the different age groups including nice long sleeved shirts, tee-shirts, and ribbons. Last year there were about 350 runners so do not think you will be alone. There will be plenty of parking available across the street from the library at Sharp Park.
Every child that finishes the FunRun gets a shirt and ribbon – the kids will love that. And, the top winners of the race in the male and female groups will also have a brick with their names engraved on it added to the library.
Something new this year is the library is also looking for donation of either new or slightly used athletic shoes to be given to ‘Heart and Sole’, a project of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Hope to see you at the run – remember supporting your local library benefits everyone and the race is a great opportunity to discuss the importance of books and reading with children of all ages. This is also a wonderful chance for the children in the family to be part of helping the community and others.
While you’re at the library you may want to see if this darling children’s book is available Crinkleroot's Guide to Walking in Wild Places by Jim Arnosky. Recommended for ages 4-8 year olds it’s a fun read. If it is not on the shelves this weekend you can also find it at Schuler Books & Music.
