Two time Caldecott Medal winner Chris Van Allsburg’s classic The Polar Express, continues to be a classic and magical holiday tale. This 1985 classic Christmas tale was revived in 2004 when director & screen writer Robert Zemeckis and William Broyles Jr., released the animated film. This Saturday, December 12th at 2:00pm the Allentown Public Library will have a no registration “to board’, reading of The Polar Express. You can also catch the film this Saturday on ABC at 8:00pm.
Truly a book and gift for all of those who ‘believe’. This magical and beautifully illustrated book tells of one Christmas Eve night, a young boy boards a mysterious train bound for the North Pole. He has but one wish – to hear the silver sleigh bells on Santa’s sleigh – and he is beginning to believe he may never hear them. This story not only continues to be a classic because of its warm and enchanting artwork but the story behind it is amazing.
The flow, text, setting and plot is just long enough to capture the essence of the story’s meaning – the magic, the moment, the wish, the dream – it’s not just about Santa and its not just for kids. If you read the story or watch the film, both may bring tears to your eyes. Don’t let your heart forget the magic, the gift, the love and the belief of Christmas. Revisit your childhood spirit, discover the joy, embrace the innocence, search your faith and the all encompassing grace that is Christmas and what it is all about – if you truly believe.
