Recently, the Consumer Pro
duct Safety Commission issued two recalls of children’s products. If you have one of the included products, you should stop using it with your child immediately and follow the CPSC instructions for repair or replacement.
Kolcraft is recalling 1 million play yards. The side rail may not latch completely and may unlatch when a child leans against it, causing a fall hazard. 347 reports of detachment have been received, with 21 minor injuries. The play yards come in a variety of models including Jeep, Contours, Sesame Street, Carter’, Care Bears, Eric Carle, and Kolcraft. The play yards were sold between January 2000 and January 2009 sat a variety of retailers for between $50 and $160. Parents should stop using the play yard with their child immediately and contact Kolcraft for a free repair kit. Gromex, Inc. of Passaic, New Jersey is recalling 700 Paloma pacifiers due to a choking hazard. The ventilation holes and mouth guards are too small to meet requirements of federal safety standards. The pacifiers were sold at retail stores between Febuary 2008 and March 2009 for about $1. Parents should immediately take the pacifiers from their child and contact Gromex for a refund.
