A lifelong Chicagoan, Jim Stacho spent many a childhood afternoon being regaled by the antics of such memorable Cubs stars as Larry Biittner, who once lost a dropped fly ball in his hat! After graduating from Saint Patrick H.S., he began what a later employer would describe as a "checkered career" in the professional world, but always having time to write for a self-published newsletter promoting organic farming (he created the character "Sam Spade - Agricultural Extension Agent" in several short stories, but obviously purloined by Garrison Keillor for his famous Guy Noir sketches on Prairie Home Companion. Jim wrote music reviews for the Heartland Journal and Illinois Entertainer in the 80's, and has performed and taught at The Old Town School of Folk Music over the past dozen years.
