Playing the Los Angeles Lakers (9-3) was already going to be a tough game on the circus trip for the Bulls (6-5), to make it even tougher, Pau Gasol- who missed the previous11 regular season games because of a strained right hamstring- chose Thursday nights' game to make his debut.
Gasol led the Lakers with 24 points and 13 rebounds as they handled the Bulls 108-93.
The Bulls never truly threatened the Lakers and after the game, Joakim Noah probably said it best about last seasons' NBA champions;
"Their length is definitely their biggest strength," said Noah, who had 12 points and 15 rebounds. "To me, the most amazing thing about it is you're out there competing hard, and these guys are hardly breaking a sweat because they're so comfortable running their offense. They look like it's very easy."
After saying he wouldn't get a haircut, until he got back to playing the way he and everyone else is accustomed to him playing, Derrick Rose scored 20 points on 9-20 from the field and dished out 6 assists.
"It definitely wasn't the right time [to face the Lakers]," Rose said. "You've got two 7-footers out there tipping balls to each other. It's tough. Doesn't matter if it's (Gasol's) first game or last. He's a great player."
The Bulls will try to get back on track, Saturday against the Denver Nuggets (8-3). The last time the two faced off, the Bulls had a last second shot waived off that would have given them the win.
