Although most people think of the sweet, fruity, and possibly custard-like fillings when the word “pie” comes to mind, there is a café that serves a more interesting kind of pie that is better suited for a brunch or lunch than a dessert. Top Nosh Cafe, which has earned its reputation by selling their savory pies at numerous farmer markets along the Bay Area, has a café on Lincoln Avenue that allows patrons to sit down and enjoy a different kind of pie for a good deal.
The selection of pies may not be vast, but the flavors certainly are. Patrons will not find an ordinary chicken pot pie here, though. The golden pockets of crisp dough that Top Nosh serves have more unique combinations of fillings, like spicy beef with mint and cilantro, chicken and tomato with cashews, and wild mushrooms with creamy cheese. Even their salads have a unique quality, like their arugula mix with pita chips and lemon vinaigrette, or their mixed greens with pecans and apples in balsamic vinaigrette.
For such gourmet flavor combinations, buying a meal combo for one pie and a half salad or cup of soup for under $8 seems like a pretty good deal. Of course, ordering some pies on-the-go is going to be even cheaper – only $5 per frozen pie.
Open from 7am to 7pm, Monday through Friday, patrons do not have to settle for having their savory pies just for lunch. And, being open from 8am to 7pm on Saturdays and 9am to 5pm on Sundays gives people plenty of opportunity to grab a distinctive snack, late lunch, or light early dinner on their leisurely weekend.
If people are looking for a different kind of meal, Top Nosh Café seems like a good place to try.

Amelia, this sounds like another place to try. My husband and I have visited many of the places you have suggested and, at least, ninety percent of the time we can agree with saying a place was all it was expected. Then again, everyone has an individual flavor. :) Thank you!
I agree with Virginia, Amelia, this does look like a place to try, and local, too!
