Woodman's - The employee Owned Food Emporium

Woodman’s – The Employee Owned Food Emporium

Ok, I heard so much about this store from my friend who lives in Aurora, IL. When I would visit for the weekend, she would unpack groceries from Woodman’s the produce was vibrant and had the look and feel of freshness.
I knew Woodman’s was located in Kenosha, but I was intimidated by its size, as I would gaze at it from my car window as I passed it on I-94. I wondered what it was like in the inside. Was it massive like a Sam’s Club? Did they offer free goodies as you leisurely walk the isles? Or was it your mega-store; Super Target, Cosco or Wal-mart? I did not’t know what to expect. One of my buddies told me that Woodman’s had opened a store in Oak Creek.

I had to go, it blew my mind; not only are they opened 24 hours but they except coupons; it’s a big place but it is not over powering.

Woodman’s is the one-stop-shop for your entire grocery and liquor needs.  If you can’t find those Panko bread crumbs that’s called for in that new recipe at your local Piggly Wiggly or Pick ‘n Save, you’ll find it at Woodman’s.

If you are looking for ostrich or buffalo meat, a two-gallon bottle of mustard, ice cream cheaper than Wal-Mart and want to contribute to an employee own business, Woodman’s is the place to shop. Woodman’s liquor store is attached to the grocery area. Competitively priced against Wal-Mart and Target’s Superstores, Woodman’s may provide price relief on your weekly grocery bill. If you are looking for that unique micro or that foreign beer it will most likely be in the cooler, the wine selection is also splendid.

Other favorable highlights: organic, bulk, eclectic, foreign, and locally grown produce all can be found at Woodman’s.  Woodman’s can also be commended for trying to “be green” selling reusable grocery bags or having an alternative of paper versus plastic.

Woodman’s Markets does not go without having a couple adverse issues: they only have three local area stores (watch for Menominee Falls location), so a quick run to the store may not be an option, my drive to the Oak Creek Woodman’s from the north side of Milwaukee is about 20 minutes, they only take cash or debit and there are so many food options, grocery shopping at Woodsman’s can take three hours out of your day.
