Good luck.

Unless you count the stuff they put in blenders for margaritas, this is not the city to find fresh fruit.

Expect to pay $30, after tax and tip, to get fruit on your plate at weekend hotel prices.

(Example:  At the new Aria, the breakfast buffet is $14.95, Mon. to Fri., then $23.95 on Sat. and Sun.   It's $28.95 for the usual weekend champagne brunch.  Prices are the same for one of the best weekend brunches, down the strip at Bellagio.  Most casino-hotel buffet prices are similar.)

But take a leisurely stroll down The Strip to The Stratosphere and you'll find fresh fruit at a half-decent price.

We say 'half-decent' because so little food is grown in Nevada that almost everything you eat has been flown or trucked in from another state.

Come-ons are so common in Vegas that we didn't believe our server when she insisted the fruit was fresh.

We ordered the granola parfait with fresh blueberries, figuring this would be the last fruit to pass off as fresh.

Wrong.

Not only did we get a parfait dish so big it required two hands for the server to lift it, we got a heap of big, fresh blueberries on top.

The granola was commercial, so over-sugared with raisins, but the yogurt seemed unsweetened and creamy.

The blueberries were such a wonderful surprise, we did the "treasure the moment" thing and savored the sweetness of every single one slowly.

At $8.29, the parfait is large enough to share, especially because it comes with two wedges of banana bread, which seemed commercially made, but was light and sticky-moist.

With bottomless coffee at $2.99 for a big mug, and cheery service, it was a great start to a Las Vegas morning.

Roxy's breakfast parfait can be ordered with strawberries or bananas instead.
