When the Phillies became National League Baseball Champions, Mayor Michael Nutter won his bet with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
Nutter fulfills his part of the wager on Saturday, Dec. 19 by helping Nykia Reid build her home from Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia. As for Villaraigosa, he is buying lunch for the entire crew.
Tomorrow, Reid completes the 350 hours of sweat equity in the financial literacy classes and Habitat construction projects required from every potential Habitat homeowner. Congratulations to Reid.
The home at 845 Church Lane in Germantown must be gutted and rehabbed before she claims it. Not only does this structure mark the 143rd home built by Habitat Philadelphia, it is part of a unique collaboration of housing between Habitat Philadelphia, LaSalle University, and Interfaith Houses for Habitat. Mayor Nutter's appearance is especially helpful to shine a light on this worthy cause.
Clients, donations, and volunteers, singly or in groups are always welcome sights to Habitat Philadelphia. For more info: visit http://www.habitatphiladelphia.org/ or call 215.765.6000.
