The Hope For Haiti Now charity album debuted at number one on the Billboard Top 200 chart making it the first digital-exclusive album to hit the top spot. According to Nielsen SoundScan 171,000 copies of Hope For Haiti Now have been purchased in the United States through Sunday. The album was organized after last week’s star-studded telethon which raised more than $58 million.
Hope for Haiti Now includes performances by Alicia Keys, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Shakira, John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera, Sting, Beyoncé, Keith Urban, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Dave Matthews, Neil Young, Wyclef Jean, Jay-Z, Bono, the Edge, and Rihanna.
The album is available to purchase from iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, and Amazon. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit relief efforts in Haiti through the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, Oxfam America, Partners in Health, Red Cross, UNICEF, United Nations World Food Programme, and Yele Haiti Foundation.
