AIDS Walk Los Angeles, Oct. 18, 2009
Break out the tennis shoes and start getting in shape now for the 25th Anniversary AIDS Walk Los Angeles to be held October 18, 2009. Beginning in West Hollywood Park, participants will continue their plight to "Make AIDS History" by walking the 6.2 mile route through the streets of Los Angeles and West Hollywood.
The money raised by AIDS Walk will support the AIDS Project Los Angeles and other LA County AIDS Service Organizations.
For those looking to get more involved, participants also have the opportunity at www.aidswalk.net to become "Green Walkers" and "Star Walkers." Green walkers will be a part of a new environmentally conscious effort by AIDS Walk to save paper and postage by allowing contributors and walkers to gain all materials needed online. Star walkers will be considered "VIP" day-of the event, and set goals of raising $1,000 or more for the cause.
2,100 volunteers are also needed to ensure that the day is a success, and volunteers can get involved now to help with projects leading up to the October event.
Presented by the Hilton Family, AIDS Walk 2009 is set to be a remarkable event that will raise awareness of the disease that affects more than 1.2 million people in the United States.
