Alright Celtics (and NBA) fans. What does Rajon Rondo need to do to get your All Star vote?
The Celtics have the 8th best offense and second best defense (based on points scored and allowed) and Rajon Rondo is the point of attack on both. He might be the best defensive point guard in the league, and the Celtics themselves will tell you that it's up to him to make that offense hum.
“He has a tough job,” [Celtics Head Coach Doc] Rivers said. “He has three guys that probably all want the ball every possession. And he has to be the ‘no’ guy: ‘No, not this time.’ ”
Stat geeks will fall all over themselves to explain how Rajon is the engine in this Celtics machine.
So how has Boston remained a dominant team? The answer is almost entirely Rajon Rondo. While KG and Pierce are on pace to produce 8.1 fewer wins this year, Rondo is on pace to provide 8.2 additional victories. Consequently, Rondo is now the most productive player on the Celtics. Yes, Rondo is offering more than KG, Pierce, or Ray Allen.
If we look at the individual stats, we see that Rondo - relative to last year - is a more efficient scoring, tallying more assists, and getting more steals. As a result, his WP48 has risen from 0.219 (which is very good) to 0.371 (which is amazing).
Heck, Rondo even keeps in touch with his fans with his blog. And he keeps it personal, which makes us feel connected.
I thought I would start the new year off right and drop yall a few lines. I hope everyone had a safe and happy new year. I didn't do much last night myself. We got back from the west coast early yesterday morning, so I slept all day. When I woke up, it was snowing outside, so I didn't feel like going anywhere. I called Perk, TA, and Pat, and they ended up coming over. We all celebrated the new year together with our families. It was coo.
So why... WHY... if everyone else will line up to tell you how awesome Rajon Rondo is, won't anyone give him any All Star votes? Rondo isn't even on the list of the top 11 vote getters at guard.
you CAN find Gilbert Arenas at #6… even though he only played 13 games last year and none this year. Luke Ridnour (10.6 ppg, 5.6 apg on a 16-19 small market team vs. 11.1 ppg, 7.1 apg on a 29-5, big market, defending champion) is also up there at #7.
Does Rondo deserve to be voted in as a starter? I think so, but the way the votes are broken down won't allow that. There's no "point guard" category. Fans can just vote for two guards. And that's fine. I can accept that. But I think Rondo deserves the recognition of being on the list when the voting is released.
I can't predict much in the NBA, but I pride myself on being able to understand why things happen after the fact. But the lack of votes for Rondo just escapes me. I'm thoroughly confused. What is it about Luke Ridnour that gets him so far ahead of Rondo in the voting? You'd think the point guard who orchestrates a top 10 offense, on the defending champion, in a big market, would get more votes than that.

Rondo does not deserve to be an all-star starter or an all-star period.
Of course Rondo deserves to be on the All Star list. Rondo was excellent last season, defying all the naysayers out there who questioned whether or not he had the grease to take the Celtics to a championship. And he has only gotten better.
Rondo not only has a knack for getting the ball to the right player at the right time he even has the willingness to drive the line and score himself should no one be available.
Rondo is a large part of the future of the Celtics franchisee.
Put Rondo on the List.
Rondo isn't an all-star...quit the nonsense.
all people do is hate on Rondo... the dude is cold blooded... i dont give an f if he has HOFs on his team... HE is the facilitator on the celtics and allows them to play at an all star level... hes definately the best PG in the east.
what now rondooo
