Move over Jimmy Buffett! Rocker Sammy Hagar, former lead singer of Van Halen and now leader of the band, Chickenfoot, recently opened a new restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip. Tonight, December 4, Hagar will be hosting a grand opening party at his new Cabo Wabo Cantina located inside the Miracle Mile Shops at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
This is the second Cabo Wabo Cantina restaurant Hagar has opened. In 1990, he opened his first Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas. "I wanted to open a tequila bar with a small stage so I could perform there when the mood struck me," Hagar explains. "Any musician who wants to will be able to play there."
Hagar's combination of killer margaritas, flavorful Mexican food, and rock 'n' roll has helped to make the Cabo San Lucas location a great success. Hagar even created his own brand of Cabo Wabo Tequila.
The event tonight in Las Vegas kicks off with a red carpet at 6:30 p.m. and a live performance by Sammy Hagar and The Waboritas at 9 p.m. A limited number of complimentary tickets will be given out at Cabo Wabo Cantina in Las Vegas on December 4, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The concert will also be broadcast live on Miracle Mile Shops' 5,000-square-foot LED screen that faces the Strip.
Cabo Wabo's vibrant outdoor patio offers prime views of the Las Vegas Strip, combining Cabo San Lucas' laid-back, beach-town vibe with the excitement of Vegas. The savory menu blends Tex Mex cuisine with coastal Mexican fare, specializing in fajita selections. The cocktail menu highlights Hagar's favorite spirit, tequila, featuring specialty margaritas and cocktails.
Cabo Wabo Cantina is the latest in the style of music-themed celebrity-owned restaurants. Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville restaurant has found huge success in Las Vegas for several years, as well as its other 14 locations in the US and the Caribbean.
"I'm ecstatic to introduce Las Vegas to the Cabo Wabo lifestyle," said Hagar. "The cantina's fun-loving, fiesta atmosphere brings rock 'n' roll right to the heart of Las Vegas. We are going to rock the Strip!"
