On Saturday, November 21, owners of the casino-resort Ponte 16 in Macau, purchased Michael Jackson's legendary white rhinestone glove for $350,000 at an auction in the U.S. This was the same glove that Jackson wore during his first moonwalk performance while singing "Billie Jean" on the Motown 25 TV special. A Michael Jackson Gallery will be created in the lobby of the Ponte 16 luxury hotel, along with several other Jackson memorabilia items including "a signed drawing of Charlie Chaplin, a pair of acrylic tube socks, Jackson's 'zombie' shirt which he wore in the video of 'Thriller' and a platinum record awarded for the album Bad", according to Reuters.
The "MJ Gallery" will be the first shrine to Michael Jackson in Asia. Macau could be considered the "Las Vegas" of the East since its economy depends mainly on tourism and gambling. Macau is one of two special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China -- the other being Hong Kong.
