Indian-American cookbook author, model and actress, Padma Lakshmi, has a new credit to her name: mother.
The Emmy-nominated host of Top Chef welcomed her first child, daughter Krishna Thea Lakshmi, to the world on Saturday, Feb. 20 in New York City. The classic Sanskrit name (meaning "dark or black") chosen for the baby girl comes from Lakshmi's family.
Lakshmi, 39, announced her pregnancy in Oct. after struggling with endometriosis and infertility for years, and declined to disclose the identity of the baby's father.
