Whitney Houston did not need any wild costumes, special effects or kinky sex antics to make her point at the American Music Awards. All she needed was her amazing voice. And that alone separated her from every other performer at the awards show.
She accepted her International Award of Excellence from Samuel L. Jackson with dignity and grace. She gave her first live performance in five years, and her first at the AMAs in ten years. Only seven other artists have been given the International Award of Excellence: Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Led Zeppelin, the Bee Gees, Aerosmith, Madonna and Beyonce. Whitney Houston rose like the phoenix this year and has returned to her throne in the sky! She was by far the best performance of the evening.
